Huddersfield Town went to Bury for a pre season friendly, David Wagner named two teams of eleven. Each would play one half of the match, this was also the first outing for most of the new signings. Only Ramadan Sobhi was absent, having been given extended leave along with Jonas Lössl, Mathias Jørgensen & Aaron Mooy after their perfomances in the World Cup.

The first half saw Ben Hamer in goal, Terence Kongolo and Juninho Bacuna all make their first appearance in the Terriers alternate shirt. Huddersfield were dominating from the kick off, with an early cross by Alex Pritchard being caught by former Terrier Joe Murphy.

A couple of good moves follow for Huddersfield, however they are cleared by Bury. Kongolo was called into early action after the hosts tried to create an opening in the area, but the ex AS Monaco player steers the ball out of play.

Bacuna showed some great touches and strength in midfield during the opening exchanges and the Terriers have more of the possession. Bury finally got a corner around 20 minutes into the game, which came off Kongolo.

Pritchard got on the end of a great ball from Philip Billing who pounced on a loose ball to slip the midfielder in. Pritchard drilled the ball by Murphy and into the back of the net. Jordan Williams placed an effort on target but the young Terrier found his shot saved by Murphy

New signing Bacuna hit a through ball that fell to Tom Ince, unfortunately the resulting effort was wide. At the break the Terriers had most of the possesion and Bacuna had shown exceptional skill already and looks to have settled in already. Good signs for the coming season from the three new signings, which will be needed next season.

Second half

Wagner changed the team for the second half, it had already been announced that he was doing this. Michael Hefele and Jon Gorenc Stankovic both made their full returns to the squad. Abdelhamid Sabri also made a return to first team action after a long time out.

Within three minuets of the kick off Rajiv van La Parra had doubled the Terriers lead, releasing Chris Lowe down the left before firing the cross passed Murphy.

Bury had a chance to pull one back when Dai Wai-tsun has a shot blocked which finds the feet of Chris Dagnall, the striker was offside though. Just on the hour mark and Sabri makes it three for the Terriers, Stankovic found Lowe down the left who crossed and found the head of the Morrocan.

Barely 10 minutes later and Sabri has another super chance on goal, but glances just over. Laurent Depoitre is slipped through by young Terrier Matt Daly but the Belgian is denied by the Bury keeper.

A couple of good changes followed for the hosts, Joel Coleman collects the cross from Joe Adams, and Hefele headed away another Adams cross. Coleman then started an excellent flowing move the culminates with Daly finding a Collin Quaner cross and tapping it to make it four.

With around five minutes to go Gold Omotayo drills an effort inside the area, but Coleman made a great save. The corner is also punched away by the Terrier keeper. Plenty of action for the players and assists and good moves looking good against Bury

The run out for the Terriers was a good performance and gives plenty of options going forward. Wagner should be pleased with the result and most of the players came off OK from the pitch.

The only slight issue was with Bacuna who received a knock, but this will be examined in the next few days. More pre season matches will take place in Austria in the next few weeks.
