Brighton picked up their first away win of the season, with a 1-0 win over Newcastle. The win is not just Brighton's first this season, but their first since November last year when they beat Swansea City.
The only goal of the game, came in the 28th minute from a corner as Alireza Jahanbakhsh swung the ball into Shane Duffy and his header was cleared to Jose Izquierdo, whose shot deflected off a defender and then Beram Kayal before going into the bottom right corner.
Newcastle's went closest to equalising right on the stroke of half time, when Kenedy's strikes from 25 yards skimmed the bar on the way over.
Brighton defended well
A key to the win was the way Brighton defended, as throughout the game they soaked up a lot of pressure and held it off, thoroughly deserving their win.
There were three players who were key to the win. The first two were both centre half's in Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy, who were blocking and heading away the ball numerous times to thwart Newcastle.
The final one was Mathew Ryan, as when Newcastle got the ball past Dunk and Duffy, Ryan was there to save the ball and more importantly keep out Newcastle.
One save that sticks out was in the first ten minutes, when Ayoze Perez's got in behind the defence and Ryan stuck out his right leg, to prevent it going in the bottom left corner.
Murray injury worry
A concerning sight for Brighton and the whole of the St James Park stadium was when Glenn Murray and Federico Fernandez clashed in the air, eight minutes in.
This saw a stoppage of eight minutes and saw Murray carried off on a stretcher with a neck brace after being knocked out. It sparked a standing applause from the whole stadium.
Chris Hughton said after the game; "He [Murray] has been discharged from the hospital".
This is great news for Brighton, who would not want to lose their top scorer to injury.
It is not the way Murray wanted the game to go when it started, with the striker looking for his 100th goal for the club, only to be brought off early on.
Newcastle wasteful
Newcastle wasted some glorious chances throughout the game, with the Perez one mentioned earlier and a chance in the second half when striker Yoshinori Muto headed over the bar from close range.
There was also chances for Kenedy and Jonjo Shelvey throughout the game. Newcastle were really wasteful throughout the match, considering the possession and chances they had.
The most worrying thing for Newcastle is they are now rock-bottom of the Premier League after their loss and Cardiff winning 4-2 at home against Fulham.
The loss also means that Newcastle are still to pick up a win in their opening nine games of the season.
