Ben Chilwell has signed a new six-year-deal which commits his future to Leicester City until June 2024.

Chilwell has been with The Foxes since the age of 12, when he joined the academy, meaning he has now been at the club for nine years. If he sees out his new deal, it will take the duration of his stay to 15 years with the Premier League side.

The left-back has really established himself as a regular starter under manager Claude Puel and his form in the last year has seen him earn his first senior England cap.

Impressive year

Chilwell has had quite a twelve months. Last season he was only just working his way into the Leicester squad and ended last campaign having made 24 appearances.

This term, he has kicked on and started all eight of Leicester's Premier League games to date and is now one of the first names you expect to see on The Foxes' teamsheet.

If that wasn't enough, he has capped it off by getting his first England start in the 0-0 draw away to Croatia in the UEFA Nations League.

Chilwell has his say

Chilwell spoke to LCFC about the new deal: “Leicester’s always felt like the right place for me.

"I’ve had fantastic support at every level since I arrived nine years ago and I’ve always felt opportunities would come if I continued to work hard. That’s a great feeling to have as a young player.

The full back revealed his optimism for the future: “The Club has really big, long-term plans and it’s really exciting to know that I’m going to be part of that.

"We’ve got a great squad with quite a youthful core so there’s a real opportunity for us to push on and achieve something together in the coming years.”

Puel's delight

Chilwell's manager, Puel spoke to LCFC.com of his delight to secure the defender's services for the long-term future: “It’s great news for the Club. Ben is an exciting young player with huge potential who is already learning and improving by playing regular Premier League football.

"If he continues to work hard he will become a valuable player for us and I hope for the England team.

“He is already an example for the young players of our Academy, it highlights the excellent work within it and validates the project of the Club.”
