As time was running out, Liverpool was resorting to solely long balls forward. While some of them almost ended in their favor, Liverpool was completely lost from that point on. The game plan fell apart, and they were just flat. Liverpool had no answer to Red Star dropping back, bringing back concerns of the Reds being able to break down defenses.
Liverpool looked absolutely flat against a resolute Red Star defense. The Serbian side was playing nine men behind the ball in the second half, holding onto their two goal lead from the first. Pavkov is the hero for Red Star tonight with his two goals being the difference in Belgrade.
Fulltime!
The whistle sounds and the home fans are loud in song. Red Star have pulled off a massive upset, beating Liverpool 2-0 in what is one of Klopp's worst defeats as   the Reds' manager .
90+4'
A deep cross from Milner falls to the feet of Salah in the box. He shoots with his first touch, but Borjan is down to save it.
90+2'
Savic is down holding his hamstring. He stretches it out and gets back up. A bit of time wasting.
90'
The board is up and there will be five minutes of stoppage time. But it could be 15 minutes of stoppage time. Liverpool isn't threatening Red Star's lead here.
84'
Firmino sets the ball up for van Dijk on the far post. The Dutchman gets his head to it, but can't bring the ball down towards goal as it narrowly goes over the crossbar.
81'
Gomez takes the throw and it is launched into the area around the back post. Van Dijk can't make a good connection with the ball, and Salah can't beat Borjan from his angle.
79' SUBSTITUTION
Robertson plays a cross that falls to the feet of Lallana who plays the ball to Salah. He can't sort his feet out for a clear shot, and the defense snuffs the danger out. Liverpool are getting closer, but are running out of time. Divock Origi then comes in for Lallana.
72' SUBSTITUTION
Red Star make their final substitution. Nenad Krsticic comes off for Branko Jovicic.
71'
Salah nearly scores again from the corner. The ball spilled out to him and his shot hit the post and out for a goal kick. Liverpool are getting frustratingly close.
70'
A direct pass from Matip finds Salah at the top of the box. He creates some space for the shot that demands Borjan's attention. He nearly scored there.
68'
Liverpool build up play against Red Star's high press. Salah tees up Wijnaldum at the top of the box, and Ben is down in pain after taking the full force of the shot to the chest. He takes a moment to catch his breath before play resumes.
64' SUBSTITUTION
Marin comes off in favor of Goran Causic. The home fans rain applause on Marin as he heads for the bench.
62'
Red Star are bunkering in against the Liverpool offense. They have nine players behind the ball, stuffing the box. The Reds' crossing has been decent, but there are simply too many defenders in the box for them to find a goal.
59' SUBSTITUTION
Marko Grobeljic comes on in replacement of the injured Stojkovic.
58'
The stretcher comes out for Stojkovic as he cannot get up on his own volition. His night is unfortunately ends with injury.
55'
Red Star fans aren't happy as Liverpool plays on while Filip Stojkovic is down with an injury. Robertson is in wide open space to cross the ball but can't beat the first defender. The ball deflects and bounces back into play off the crossbar. Mane tries to square the ball, but it is cleared by Red Star.
52'
Lallana and Salah play off each other well, and Lallana nearly sets up Salah with a back heel. However the pass was behind Salah, and Red Star cleared the ball. Liverpool just laying siege on the Red Star goal.
48'
Mane goes close! Firmino played a cross from the goal line that deflected into the path of Mane. He got a foot to the ball, but there were too many Red Star shirts in the way as the host clear the danger.
Second Half!
Klopp makes two changes at the half. Sturridge makes way for Roberto Firmino, and Alexander-Arnold is off for Joe Gomez.
Red Star have been great so far, holding up defensively and creating chances. While Liverpool has seen most of the ball and taken more shots, none of the Reds' shots have been on target. Red Star has been clinical with their position, and Pavkov has been brilliant, putting away his chances to give his side the lead.
Sturridge and Lallana have both looked flat so far and have failed to make any impact on the game. Both squandered decent scoring opportunities in the half and will have to do better in the second half if Liverpool are to have any chance at coming back.
Halftime!
A minute of stoppage time comes and goes as the halftime whistle sounds. Liverpool pressed hard for the end of the half but couldn't produce any chances as they go into halftime down 2-0. Shocking scoreline as Pavkov's two moments of brilliance have them ahead.
42'
A decent span of Liverpool play results in nothing. Plenty of passing around the back before the Reds push forward methodically through the midfield. Mane gets the ball on the wing and creates space for the cross, but the ball is sent too close to Milan Borjan as he comes out and collects.
36' YELLOW CARD
Lallana goes in late on the challenge on Marin, leaving the player in a heap on the ground. Marin goes to receive treatment on the sideline while Lallana is shown the yellow card.
34'
Sturridge gets past a pair of Red Star shirts in the midfield and creates space for a shot, but it is poor and nowhere near the goal. He had options to pass to, but instead decided to go it alone.
32'
Liverpool go close! Liverpool's corner kick is headed towards the top of the box. Salah plays the ball back to Milner on the wing so he can cross the ball once more. Lallana finds the ball with a header but deflects on its way to goal and out for another corner.
29' GOAL! Red Star 2-0 Liverpool
Another goal by Pavkov and it's a screamer! The striker went on a brilliant run from nearly midfield, shrugging off Georginio Wijnaldum before letting fly past Alisson. The shot was just out of the keeper's reach as Red Start goes up 2-0 on the English giants.
26'
Salah plays a good early ball in to Adam Lallana, but his touch is poor as the ball gets too far beyond the player as Milos Degenek steps in to clear the ball.
25'
An early cross is floated in to Red Star's Ben, but Matip stands tall and nods the ball behind for a corner kick. A lot of danger in the air coming from Red Star.
22' GOAL! Red Star 1-0 Liverpool
Red Star are ahead! The hosts score from the corner kick as Milan Pavkov rises highest to head the ball into the back of the net. The Liverpool defense was left flat footed as Pavkoc made well on his chance to give his side a dream start here in the first half.
21'
Big save by Alisson! Red Star's Ben finds himself in space and lets one fly. The shot was curling for the bottom corner, but Alisson does great to save.
19'
Another ball in by Mane falls to Sturrdige. He tries to squeeze his shot past multiple Red Star players, and the deflection from the shot nearly sneaks in at the near post. Liverpool corner.
17'
Mane sprints down the side and squares the ball back into the Red Star box. Robertson is first to it but miscues his shot as the ball goes laterally. Sturridge is in a prime position to tap the ball home but hits the crossbar instead as the striker fails to score.
15'
Mane takes the ball off his man deep in the Liverpool third, but trips on the ball as it rolls out for a Red Star corner kick. The ball from the corner falls to the feet of Red Star captain Vujadin Savic, but the skipper can't direct his shot through traffic and misses the target.
14'
A one-two ball by Red Star nearly sees the hosts through on goal, but Robertson makes a great tackle to put the ball behind for a corner.
12'
Mohamed Salah plays a cross to the center of the box where Daniel Sturridge is running in. The striker gets his head to it but can't direct the ball on target. Alexander-Arnold comes running on for a first time chance, but his shot sails high and wide.
9'
Chance for Red Star! Marko Marin takes the ball on the right side of the box for the hosts and cuts past Trent Alexander-Arnold to get the shot off, but can't get the contact right as the ball rolls into the hands of Alisson.
7'
Andrew Robertson plays a brilliant ball down the wing for Radio Mane to run onto. The Liverpool winger receives the ball in the box and tries to cross the ball to the top of the box to James Milner, but Milos Degenek clears the danger.
5'
Not much action early on. Liverpool have looked the sharper side, but Red Star earned a corner as well as they pressed into the Liverpool third. Sturridge had a bit of an injury scare for a moment, but is fine and back on his feet.

Despite their poor record so far, Red Star has only lost once at home in their last 14 games, including their draw against Napoli at home earlier this season. The Serbians are certainly tough to beat at home, but I think Liverpool will have enough quality to bring all three points home.
Red Star also have no injury designations heading in today's match up, so Mileojevic has a full squad to pick from. The Red Star manager has a massive task ahead of him, and according to the BBC, his side is playing "for club, Belgrade, Serbia and the whole region."
Klopp has made the decision to leave Xherdan Shaqiri behind on the team's trip to Serbia. The midfielder made headlines this summer as Shaqiri, an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, scored against Serbia and made a double-headed eagle gesture, symbolizing the Albanian flag. This gesture enraged opposing fans and landed Shaqiri with a fine. Klopp has decided to leave behind Shaqiri so he may focus on football.
Liverpool have nearly a full roster to select from today. Naby Keita and Dejan Lovren both return from injury this week and are fit to feature, but Jordan Henderson is still sidelined with a hamstring problem.
The home side has only scored one Champions League goal so far and will need to greatly improve their scoring record if they hope to get a result out of the resolute Liverpool. Furthermore, they will need to shore up their leaky defense that has given up 10 goals if there is to be any chance of advancing.
The season hasn't been too kind to Red Star so far. Unlike their opponents today, the Serbian side finds themselves on the outside looking in on the Group C table. While they aren't mathematically eliminated just yet, a loss here today will virtually eliminate them from the competition.
The goals have also been flowing for Liverpool, scoring seven in the first three games. It's as if they hardly missed a step from last season, and today's trip to Serbia provides another chance to pile on the goals.
Liverpool's Champions League campaign has gone well so far despite falling 1-0 in Naples. The Reds' huge victory over PSG and win over Red Star have them placed at the top of the group and in a strong position to advance to the knockout stages.
While the Reds found little trouble last time out, Red Star manager Vladan Milojevic has promised that Liverpool's trip to Serbia will be a completely different game. Jurgen Klopp's side has plenty of quality and depth to see off Red Star once again, but the opposing manager's words should have them on notice.
Red Star play host to Liverpool after traveling to Anfield two weeks prior. The Reds won easily, dispatching their opponents with a 4-0 victory. With Napoli and Paris Saint Germain playing to a draw in Paris, this result left Liverpool on top of the Group C table with six points at the halfway point.
