Brighton U23's centre back, Ben Barclay has headed out on loan to League Two side, Notts County for the rest of the season.

However, Barclay's loan sees his U23's college, Ben Hall return from his loan at County due to injury.

What a 2018 it has been for Barclay

Barclay has experienced quite a 2018 with The Seagulls.

He was part of Albion's 25-man Premier League squad during the first half of this season and made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup defeat to Southampton.

Barclay has also been a regular starter at the back for Brighton U23's and featured in all three of Brighton's Checkatrade Trophy game, in which they just missed out on advancing to the knock-out stages.

The loan will be Barclay's first since joining from Manchester City back in 2013.

Chris Hughton's views on Barclay

Brighton manager, Chris Hughton had the following to say on Barclay's loan move to Notts County: “This is a good move for Ben, and a great opportunity for him to gain his first taste of regular senior football with Notts County.

“He has been in and around the first-team environment during pre-season and the first half of the season, and the chance to go and play first-team football will be ideal for his development.”

What happens with Hall

Hall has been on loan with Notts County since January 2018 and after a year at the club has only managed five appearances, having made none this year due to injury.

This means he will continue his rehabilitation work back at Brighton.
