While La Liga clubs commenced training this week, the RFEF, Royal Spanish Football Federation, announced the finalisation of the 2019/20 Liga Iberdrola season.
FC Barcelona takes the league title for the first time in five seasons after the announcement named the current leader as champions, denying Atletico Madrid a fifth consecutive title.
With nine matches remaining in regular season, the Catalan team claim their fifth league title, but their first with an undefeated season, with 19 wins and 2 draws.
Barcelona finish the campaign with 129 goals scored and 12 conceded; the most scored and least conceded in the league.

Promotion and regulation
The RFEF announced there will be no regulation into Reto Iberdrola, Spain's second division, but there will be normal promotion into the Primera Iberdrola.
There will be 18 clubs for the 2020/21 season, but this will be counteracted with the regulation of four teams.
Eibar and CD Santa Teresa will feature in the first division at the start of the new campaign.
Espanyol are saved from regulation, as they finish the season in 16th place with 5 points, 0 wins 5 draws 16 losses.
With the current standings, Valencia was set to be regulated sitting in 15th with 17 points, but between 10th and 15th there is only a six point difference so the nine remaining matches were pivotal to decide the second team to descend.
There will be normal play-off matches to decide promotion from Primera Nacional, Spain's third division, to Reto Iberdrola, but there is no information as to when these will be played.
