Everton loanee Jonjoe Kenny has been hailed as one of the best Bundesliga signings of last summer by Schalke manager David Wagner.

The young right back made the temporary switch from Goodison to Gelsenkirchen last summer citing the need to play more first team football having fallen out of favour with then manager Marco Silva.

Wagner heaps praise on young defender Kenny

Former Huddersfield coach Wagner was full of praise for Kenny who he says has become popular with supporters.

“He is already close to becoming a fan favourite here in our stadium… he is, for sure, one of the best signings which we have made this summer,” Wagner told the I newspaper.

Kenny is the latest in a long line of young English talents to have broken through in Germany. Reiss Nelson is currently on loan from Arsenal to Hoffenheim.

Former West Ham United defender Reece Oxford has become a regular at Augsburg this term and most notably Jadon Sancho has been a star at Borussia Dortmund
