Morgan Schneiderlin's Everton future looks to be coming towards an end, with Nice interested in the player, as reported by L'Equipe.

It has been revealed that the move is close to a completion and could be over the line in the coming hours, although all French sport is suspended until September at the earliest.

The Frenchman is set to move for a fee of just £1.79 million, ending his three year stay on Merseyside.

Everton paid £20 million for the former Southampton man in 2017 but are now ready to cut their losses and allow the player to return to his homeland.

Tough spell on Merseyside for Schneiderlin

The 30-year-old has found it tough to break in at Goodison Park, particularly struggling with injuries this season.

He has featured just 15 times so far in the Premier League, struggling to break through, particularly when long-term absentee Andre Gomes returned from a knee injury.

The Toffees have now got numerous options in the midfield, making Schneiderlin's involvement in the side less likely moving forward. The Frenchman has appeared 70 times in the three seasons he's been with the club.

Carlo Ancelotti's sides first game of the Premier League resumption sees them host bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday evening.
