Pre-match thoughts: Michael O'Neill

“We’re as prepared as we can be, I think going into the game there’s no doubt my absence has been hiccup but the team have been brilliant in making sure the disruption has been as minimal as possible.

“Whilst our last game was a 5-1 home victory, we are essentially starting again in a nine-game season with a lot at stake.

“The object for us is to get points on the board, but we (also) want to make sure that we finish the season as strongly as possible.”

20:34a year ago

Pre-match thoughts: Mark Bowen

“Normally, you get a chance to build yourself into the season. But you can’t afford that now – you can’t afford to build up slowly.

“From the first game, you have to be at it. Physically and mentally, to meet the demands of it – and try to get that momentum for yourself that gets you through those nine games.”

Last time they met

The two teams played out a goalless draw at the bet365 Stadium in their last meeting on December 14.

That result was the third consecutive draw between the two sides since they first met back in the Championship in December 2018.

Return to form

Both sides will be eager to regain their pre-postponement form, with the two sat fourth and sixth in the form table respectively in March.

Sat eight points behind sixth-placed Preston, Reading are one of a handful of teams who are still hopeful of a potential playoff push.

Stoke, however, will be looking for three important points to widen the gap between themselves and the relegation places.
