In a historic game - the first top-flight match to be broadcasted live on the BBC - Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace certainly made it a memorable one too, with a resounding victory over relegation threatened Bournemouth.

It was Luka Milivojević that opened the scoreline within a quarter of an hour - a sublime curling free kick into the top left corner, simply too powerful and precise for Aaron Ramsdale to save.

The goal was also the first time this season that Palace have scored within the first 15 minutes of a game, and evidently gave the Eagles the confidence to continue to attack ferociously.

Just over ten minutes later and an energised Palace had doubled their lead, with Wilfred Zaha threading a pass ahead into the overlapping run of Patrick Van Aanholt - who supplied a sublime low cross that Jordan Ayew slotted home - his 9th goal of the season.

Bournemouth simply were not good enough on the night and came out of the game weaker than they were before, with Joshua King now likely to have a spell on the sidelines.

Hodgson masterclass:

It was clear to see that Palace had used lockdown to re-charge and re-group, because it was simply an incredible performance from  Hodgson's men.

Organised throughout, with the defense the most impressive in terms of tactical formation. It took over an hour for Vicente Guiata to really be called into action, proving just how compact and impenetrable Palace really were.

It now means Palace have taken the lead in 21 games this season, and went on to win 17 of them - testament to Hodgson’s experience in game management.

Bournemouth need to improve drastically and quickly:

The defeat means the Cherries are in 18th spot, with relegation a real threat. Eddie Howe's team hasn’t ever really been in a relegation scrap in the past 5 years they’ve enjoyed Premier League Football, today showed why their top flight status was in real danger. A lack of a focal point in attack, with Callum Wilson barely getting bought into the game, and generally poor performance in all aspects.
