Bristol City will look to improve on their performance from last weekend after they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers. The Robins take on Garry Monk's Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday at midday.

City are looking to put an end to their poor run of form, they haven't won a league match in their previous six.

As for the Owls, they have gone three games without a win and are only eight points above the drop zone.

Playoff hopes alive after results go Bristol's way

City's playoff hopes last weekend had been decreased after they failed to bring any points back down south with them from their trip to Blackburn.

Although, Saturday's Championship results mean the Robins can jump to seventh place from 12th - just two points behind Cardiff City in sixth.

Just another game for Wednesday

Wednesday go into this match with little pressure as they are eight points above the drop zone but Monk will want results as he seeks to keep his job.

Monk's side were a completely different team before the turn of the year and looked playoff-bound - injuries to the likes of Steven Fletcher saw them hit a dull run of form and dropped into the bottom third of the table. Fletcher returned to fitness but did suffer another setback last weekend with a hamstring injury.

A rebuild is on the cards for Monk but insists he is there for the long run after he spoke in his pre-match press conference on Friday:

"I want to be here," said Monk. "I am committed and driven. I work as hard as I can every single day but I also understand as a manager that it is results driven and that will always be the way."

Expected lineups:

Bristol City: Bentley; Pereira, Kalas, Baker, Dasilva; Paterson, Smith, Massengo, Eliasson; Palmer; Wells.
