Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter is warning his side not to take Norwich City lightly despite the Canaries being bottom of the Premier League.

The Seagulls suffered their first loss since the restart of the season with a 3-0 loss to Manchester United and sit 15th in the table as they travel to Carrow Road on Saturday.

'There have been some fine margins in their matches this season'

Norwich have amassed just 21 points this season and look set to return to the EFL Championship, but Potter is wary of the East Anglian outfit.

"I have a lot of respect for Norwich as a club and a team", he said. "I saw how they got promoted last year and there's a good structure there. Daniel Farke has done a really good job. They have a clear plan and values and a strong idea of what they're trying to do.

"They'll learn from their experiences this season. When you have that sort of mentality you know they'll fight and not give up. There have been some fine margins in their matches this season as well and they're continuing to play some good football."

'It's always about the next game'

Potter is quick to turn the page on Saturday's defeat and is stressing that no matches at this level are easy.

"It's always about the next game, in this league you can't pick out matches as being easier than others. We just have to keep putting all of our resources into each match, and, once that's played, we move on to the next one.

"We've increased the gap between ourselves and the bottom three since the start of lockdown and we want to maintain that upwards momentum."

'He has lots of qualities'

One player Potter singled out for praise is Leonardo Trossard, who arrived at the club from Belgian outfit Genk last summer.

"Leo had a good impact on the game. It's his first season in a completely new environment, country and it does take time to settle. The first season is one where you are trying to adapt. He has done a lot of good things already this season and I'm sure he'll tell you there's more to come from him.

"That's part of the process of adapting and improving. He has lots of qualities and will continue to be an important player for us, between now and the end of the season and going forward. We're delighted to have him."

When describing the qualities that make him so valuable, Potter stated "he's got great close control, can go on both sides and is a great finisher, so from an offensive point of view he can certainly help us. He can play off the left or as a second striker so we have some flexibility there."
