Away from Bournemouth, you have to think how damaging this game will be in context of Leicester's season. Should Manchester United win tomorrow, they will drop to fifth.

Half-time changes?

Looking back, it really was half-time that the momentum shifted. With Leicester having been so dominant, it was quite confusing that Rodgers elected to change things. Elsewhere, Howe got his substitutions spot on.

Bournemouth 4-1 Leicester City

FT Well, I think it would be fair to say that absolutely nobody predicted that! Goals from Solanke, Stanislas and an own-goal see Bournemouth soar to a win. This could be huge in their fight to stay up.

FT And that is the full-time whistle! What a win this is for Eddie Howe and Bournemouth! They needed a win and they've got exactly that! Tremendous for the Cherries.

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

59' And it is an opportunity. Leicester fail to clear and Steve Cook is able to spin and shot. It looks like it's going to be tapped in by Wilson but he completely misses the ball.

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

52' Now Leicester are starting to look dangerous and it's Perez at the centre of things again. He at first plays a great ball to substitute Praet but the Belgian loses his footing when in on goal. Perez then has a shot of his own from outside of the area but Ramsdale holds.
20:11a year ago

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

50' The hosts have settled the better after the restart. Soyuncu gets in a good challenge to deny Callum Wilson. They will need more of that if they want to ignite their survival bid.

The Cherries are really not going to be helped by Ake's absence in the second-half. Their defence looked leaky before his withdrawal.

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

Not much half-time analysis to do than to say Leicester are better all over the pitch. James Justin has caused havoc down the right, Ndidi and Tielemans are dominant in midfield, Vardy and Perez are looking extremely dangerous. But for a few last ditch blocks and saves, it could be a far bigger scoreline.
19:53a year ago

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

HT That's the break at the Vitality. Leicester lead courtesy of Vardy's 23rd minute strike but it could be a lot more. Bournemouth not doing themselves any favours in their fight against relegation.
19:50a year ago

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

45+3' Leicester now looking to earn a goal before the break. Justin's miscued cross loops towards goal, forcing Ramsdale to tip the ball over.

It's then a clever corner routine towards Fuchs. He crosses in but the ball JUST evades both Vardy and Evans.

19:47a year ago

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

45+1' They can as well! David Brooks, who has been the brightest spark in a pretty dull Bournemouth performance, lets fly from outside of the area, with Schmeichel pawing behind. He then collects the resultant corner.
19:46a year ago

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

45' Bournemouth just trying to build something (anything) before the break but it's been toothless once again from Howe's troops. There's five minutes added at the end of the first-half - can they find any encouragement?
19:41a year ago

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

39' In the process of that challenge, Ake appears to have seriously injured himself. The Dutchman limps off and is replaced by Steve Cook. Let's hope he gets better sooner rather than later.
19:39a year ago

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

37' Wow! What a mistake from Danjuma as he sits on the halfway line and for some reason passes the ball straight to Vardy in the Bournemouth penalty area. He takes one too many touches though and Ake gets a challenge in. He's saved his team there, the Cherries' skipper.

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

26' That's 23 for the season now for Vardy and it's much deserved. The hosts just didn't settle into the game and they were bound to be punished sooner rather than later.

Bournemouth 0-1 Leicester City

23' GOAL!!! What was it I was saying about that Bournemouth defence? Iheanacho runs through the midfield and just as though it looks like he's lost the ball, he recovers and finds Perez. The Nigerian gets it back and crosses towards Vardy. Kelly seemingly has the opportunity to clear but flails a leg, failing to connect, leaving Vardy to scramble in.

Bournemouth 0-0 Leicester City

22' Yet MORE sloppy play in the Bournemouth defence as Rico this time gifts the ball to Vardy but his effort is well-blocked. This Cherries' backline has more holes than a colander at the moment.

Bournemouth 0-0 Leicester City

8' And there's the first real shot of the match. Perez plays the ball into Vardy but his effort is blocked.

Bournemouth 0-0 Leicester City

Eddie Howe on experience

Elsewhere, Howe has said he hopes to harness the experience of his players to get Bournemouth out of their relegation danger.

He said: “There’s an element of trust, you know they will do it for you again. Players who have never let you down. They will give you 100 per cent, you know they’ve done it for you before.”

Brendan Rodgers on Champions League

Whilst Rodgers' troops are firmly embroiled in a fight to earn a top-four finish, the Northern-Irishman has appealed to his troops to keep focused on the present.

He said: “If we think about the Champions League and everything that's at stake, then we've lost our focus. And it's so important at this time - you'll hear the word but the definition of it is that we're not going to focus so much on the Champions League, or else you've lost it.”

Leicester City team news

Injuries have really taken their toll on the Foxes since the restart and will do again as they travel to the South Coast. James Maddison and Ben Chilwell remain out having missed the draw with Arsenal. Full-back Ricardo Pereira is also still out injured alongside Daniel Amartey.

Adam Smith will not be able to take to the field for the Cherries after being stretchered off in the draw against Tottenham Hotspur. He joins the likes of Charlie Daniels, Chris Mepham and Simon Francis on the sidelines. Meanwhile, David Brooks will be subject to a late fitness test.

Bogey team?

Here’s an obscure fact for you – despite having been in the same division for the past four seasons, Leicester have never managed to earn a Premier League win at Bournemouth. Their last victory of any sort on their travels came in the 2013/14 campaign as a 40-year-old Kevin Phillips scored late on.

What happened last time?

Clashing towards the start of the current campaign, Leicester took an early lead through Jamie Vardy’s stunning lobbed finish. Callum Wilson equalised only a few minutes later with a clinical finish from close range though.

Leicester managed to retake the lead late in the first-half as Youri Tielemans tucked home from Vardy’s cross, with that combination proving profitable once again after the restart as the Belgian midfielder supplied the Foxes frontman for a third.

Leicester back on track

It’s also not been a good time for the Foxes recently but they will hope to build on the point they claimed in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. The East-Midlanders are just one point clear of Manchester United in fourth in what is a thrilling battle for a UEFA Champions League place.

Go time for the Cherries

The picture at the bottom of the Premier League table has already changed dramatically this weekend, meaning today’s match is crucial for the hosts. West Ham United boosted their own survival hopes and in the process relegated Norwich City with a stunning 4-0 win, whilst Watford have also moved away from the drop zone. With Villa still to play, that means the Cherries sit six points from safety following their stalemate with Tottenham Hotspur last time out.
