Wolves look very likely to secure a UEFA Europa League spot after a comfortable 2-0 win against Crystal Palace at the Molineux on Monday night.

The restart gets worse and worse for the Eagles who have only scored four times and won once since the Premier League restarted. Reinforcements are certainly needed for next season if they are to avoid the drop.

The first half was going well for Palace but they conceded just before the interval yet again. It was almost identical to the Manchester United game where they were the better team and failed to take their early chances.

Joao Moutinho played a clever one-two with Matt Doherty who laid it on a plate for Daniel Podence to complete a wonderful team goal. The goal seemed to knock Palace's confidence and they couldn't get going in the second half.

The Eagles' misery continued when Jonny doubled Wolves' lead with just over 20 minutes to go. Adama Traore used his pace and power to evade the challenges of Tyrick Mitchell and James McArthur and find Jonny who turned Joel Ward to slot the ball home.

  • Are Palace a threat anymore?

The Eagles' woeful form has now seen them lose seven games in a row in the league and they look like a team that has forgotten about this season already.

Roy Hodgson's men won four straight games, keeping a clean sheet in all of those wins before they went on this slump. They were away from the relegation zone and safety was virtually guaranteed.

Ever since then, Palace have taken their foot well and truly off the gas and have managed to become the second-lowest scorers in the league. Norwich City are the only team that have scored fewer than Palace's 30 and that has to be worrying going into next season.

The Eagles rarely looked like scoring against Wolves with Jeffrey Schlupp and Wilfried Zaha coming the closest to breaking Palace's duck all game.

  • Is Hodgson's time up?

Seven straight defeats will probably cost most managers their job in the Premier League. Most fans will remember Frank de Boer who was sacked after five games in charge having not gained a single win or goal in his reign.

Hodgson has to be running on thin ice because of this abysmal form. Eagles fans are tired of seeing substitutions in the 80th minute when the team are already 2-0 down or three defensive midfielders which kills the creativity in the team.

There is rarely any change to the line-up week in week out unless there is an injury. Naivety seems to be the biggest problem with Hodgson who is so reluctant to change tactics when things are going wrong.

Palace fans will be very worried for next season and something big needs to change. The style of football and lack of goals isn't good enough at this level and it is hard to see him in charge next season.

  • A summer overhaul is needed for next season

The transfer business this season from Palace has not been the best. Fans were sceptical when Jordan Ayew was brought in from Swansea City for £2.5m when his loan was uninspiring, to say the least in the 2018/19 season.

Ayew has impressed with nine league goals this season and has proven that he can lead the line. Gary Cahill was signed on a free and he has also proved the doubters wrong and impressed this season.

Signings such as James McCarthy, Victor Camarasa, Stephen Henderson and Cenk Tosun have been disappointing though. McCarthy has been in and out of the team, Camarasa barely played, Henderson doesn't play and Tosun had to end his loan spell early because of an injury.

Palace targets such as Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins from Brentford would be superb acquisitions to the team with their attacking talents that would certainly solve the goalscoring problems.

Eberechi Eze from QPR is a good option with Nathan Ferguson from West Brom available again after Palace failed to sign him after a failed medical back in January.

  • Where was Max Meyer?

The German has not started many games this year and he doesn't seem to appear off the bench that much either. It is weird to see Max Meyer not brought on whenever Palace need a goal and it is unclear as to why.

His style of play is always positive, looking to play the ball forward to create chances and he even gets into good positions to shoot as well. It seems that his creativity in midfield is nullified by Palace's defensive tactics.

Meyer is growing a frustrated figure at Selhurst Park and it is clear to see that Hodgson doesn't favour him at all in his match selection. The German is likely to leave because of little to no playing time and the Eagles will have to find an attacking midfielder that can ease the pressure off of Ayew and Zaha.
