The final day of the EFL Championship season promises to provide drama at both ends of the table. Promotion-chasing Brentford missed a golden opportunity to take command in the race for automatic spots, having lost 1-0 to Stoke City in their last game.

The defeat brought their excellent recent run to a halt, with Thomas Frank's side having won the previous eight league matches. On the final day, the Bees must better West Bromwich Albion's result, should they wish to take the final automatic promotion spot. Should they fail to win, Brentford will enter the play-offs in their bid to reach the Premier League

At the other end of the table, Barnsley snatched a last gasp winner over Nottingham Forest to ensure their fight for survival would stretch until the final day. Barnsley have had poor recent away form, having lost their last three on the road. Taking into account Wigan's impending points deduction, Barnsley would need to win and hope and Luton Town and Charlton Athletic both fail to win, to stand a chance of survival.

Key Battle:

Talisman Saïd Benrahma has provided 17 league goals this season, as well as eight assists. Brentford also boast the league's second top scorer, Ollie Watkins, who has 25 goals this season. The pair will look to exploit a leaky Barnsley defence, who have shipped 68 goals in 45 games this season.

Barnsley hitman Cauley Woodrow has been in fine form this season, scoring 14 goals in the league. Striker partner Connor Chaplin has also contributed 11 times, with the pair totalling over half of their side's league goals this season.

Previous Meeting:

The reverse fixture saw Brentford recover from conceding an early Cauley Woodrow goal to take the win 3-1. A hat trick from Ollie Watkins saw the Bees return to London with all three points.

Team News:

Brentford forward Nikolaos Karelis is still out with a long term injury, and will not feature.

Barnsley midfielders Elliot Simoes and Romal Palmer are unavailable for selection, with both still out through injury.

Predicted Lineups:

Brentford (4-3-3): Raya, Henry, Pinnock, Jansson, Dalsgaard, Jensen, Norgaard, Marcondes, Benrahma, Mbuemo, Watkins.

Barnsley (4-3-1-2): Walton, Williams, Andersen, Sollbauer, Ludewig, Styles, Halme, Mowatt, Woodrow, Brown, Chaplin.

Managers Comments:

Thomas Frank was effusive in his praise for his side's excellent run, suggesting they will give everything in their final league match:

"We have been on an unbelievable run and if anybody had said to us before the start of the season that before the last game you would be one point off the top two...

"We can only look forward, do everything we can to settle our emotions and be ready to go again Wednesday."

Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber was delighted with his side's late winner against Nottingham Forest, challenging his players to reproduce that desire on Wednesday:

"The team and the staff knows the quality in the team, everyone will fight and give the best he can and we believe we can stay in the league. This moment today showed me we have quality in the team, a good plan and big belief we can stay in the league."
