For Watford, it's now all eyes on Villa Park as they'll be hoping Arsenal can recreate their FA Cup heroics from Saturday to aid their relegation battle.

It's fair to say it's going to be a very nervy week at Vicarage Road!

19:559 months ago

Any questions surrounding City's motivation have been quickly squashed as they brushed Watford aside this evening, exactly what was needed after Saturday's FA Cup semi final defeat. City have now scored 18 goals in their last three meetings against Watford, it's some record!

19:369 months ago

76' Also looks like Watford have made a change as Danny Welbeck is in on in place of Troy Deeney.

19:319 months ago

73' John Stones replaces goal scorer, Aymeric Laprote.

19:279 months ago

19:269 months ago

66' It's four! A delightful Kevin De Bruyne free kick is met by Laporte and he makes no mistake with the header, nodding into the bottom corner to extend his side's lead.

This could be a long 25 minutes for Watford...

19:239 months ago

19:219 months ago

Sterling's Opening Rocket

Take a look at Raheem Sterling's beauty of opener below!

18:579 months ago

On a closer look it seems that Will Hughes did in fact get the slightest of touches when he was adjudged to have fouled Raheem Sterling in the area...

However, the Watford man showed no real issues with the initial decision making the referee's and VAR's life much easier!

18:529 months ago

Despite a lacklustre start from City they head into the break with a well deserved two goal lead. Once again it's Raheem Sterling on the score sheet, and those two goals now take him to 19 for the Premier League season, his highest league tally of his career!

For Watford it's another long 45 minutes ahead. However, just as Bournemouth showed last week a little pressure on the City backline can often lead to reward, and with Premier League safety on the line they will not want to be relying on other results to secure their stay in the Premier League.

18:499 months ago

A Raheem Sterling brace gives City a comfortable lead at the break!
18:489 months ago

18:479 months ago

18:429 months ago

40' Ben Foster makes a superb save to initially deny Sterling from the spot, but the Watford keeper can not do anything to stop the rebound as the City number seven taps in for his, and his side's second!
18:409 months ago

38' CITY PENALTY! Some quick from Sterling results in him being tripped over by Will Hughes giving Michael Oliver no choice but to point to the spot!

Sterling will be the man to step up...

18:379 months ago
35' Phil Foden does superbly well down the left taking on two men, before having a cross from close range well blocked!
18:339 months ago
32' So, Watford now have it all to do. After a strong 30 or so minutes the hosts are going to have throw much more at City if they want to get anything out of this one...
18:329 months ago

18:239 months ago
21' Chance for City as Joao Cancelo works the ball well into the Watford box before Phil Foden has an effort from close range well blocked!
18:219 months ago
20' A fairly laboured first 20 minutes so far. The feel of a pre-season friendly comes to mind, which I suppose is appropriate for late July!
18:159 months ago
14' As expected it's a dominant start from City but the hosts are standing strong so far.
18:129 months ago

Relegation Battle

So, just before we get going here is a quick rundown on the relegation dog fight:

A Watford win: Will send down Bournemouth and Aston Villa if the latter fail to beat Arsenal later this evening.

Watford draw: Will send down Bournemouth and mean Aston Villa will need to pick up at least a point to take it to the final day.

Manchester City win: The relegation scrap will go down the last day this Sunday. Watford currently sit three points clear of Villa, so if they match their result this evening they will stay sat in the driving seat with one game left to play.

The hosts are celebrating Belgian National Day with a shoutout to their Belgian centre-back, Christian Kabasele! Will it be a double celebration for the Hornets number 27?

Apparently their is a half decent Belgian talent in the City squad as well?

Despite his sacking this week, Pep Guardiola was full of praise for the now former Watford boss, Nigel Pearson ahead of tonight's decision, stating:

"It is not easy for me to talk about this. I respect the decision, all I can say is before the lockdown what Nigel did was incredible. The amount of points and the results they got when they were on the bottom."

"But after that I don’t know what happened. I respect the decision of the club and I wish Nigel all the best. He is an experienced manager in England, he has done incredibly well in the past but I don't know the reason for the decision."

The last time these two locked horns was certainly one to remember for City as they ran out convincing 8-0 winners at the Etihad Stadium back in September.

With their Premier League safety now at stake there is no doubt Watford will be doing all they can to prevent another battering this evening.
