Crystal Palace are known for not having the best of windows in the past and that will need to change in the near future if they are to avoid relegation next season.

The Eagles have secured their eighth consecutive season in the Premier League and they are certainly playing like it with seven straight defeats in the league. This shows grim readings going into their final day game against Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park.

Before Palace sign anyone, they need to sell a few players that are taking up the wage bill to free up money on some much-needed transfers.

  • Christian Benteke

There is a big reason why Benteke is the first player on this list. The Belgian is the third-highest earner at Palace and it is safe to say that he does not deserve to earn that much.

According to The National, his strike partner Jordan Ayew with nine league goals this season earning around £30k a week compared to Benteke's £120k a week. Benteke has scored six goals in his last three seasons which is an abysmal return for an international who got 15 in 36 league appearances in his first season.

There were rumours on former club Aston Villa wanting him to return and clubs in China were after his signature in the past. The Eagles can't afford to keep a goal-shy striker who earns just a little too much at the club.

  • Wilfried Zaha

The star man at SE25 and a club legend that will remember long into the Eagles' history. How can they let him go? This season, he has looked a shadow of the player that is so famous for completing successful take-ons and scoring at least 10+ goals.

There are a number of big clubs after the 27-year-old including Borussia Dortmund who looked very keen on the Ivorian earlier in the season.

Zaha is the highest earner with £130k a week and Palace can get a lot of money for him with estimates of £80m knocking around. That money can be used on reinforcements such as Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma, Eberechi Eze etc.

  • Wayne Hennessey

The Wales number one isn't favoured at the South London club and has proved that he is massively unreliable off the bench whenever Vicente Guaita is injured.

There have been too many errors over the years and there would not be much shock if he was shown the door. Despite only earning £40k a week, that amount of money can be considered a lot for an out-of-favour goalkeeper.

There are many options that Palace could go for in order to replace the number two. Guaita needs a backup and the Eagles have looked at Alex Bass from Portsmouth who could be a young prospect worth bringing in who could learn from Guaita and be supported by coach Dean Kiely who is known to have a big influence.

  • Mamadou Sakho

The man has been riddled with injuries ever since he joined Palace permanently from his loan spell back in 2017. Sakho cost around £24m and earns £100k a week at the moment.

His performances this season have not been great and his biggest errors came in the 3-0 loss against Leicester City shortly after the restart.

With rumours of Lyon wanting to bring the Frenchman back home, it could be a good bit of business for Palace and take a chunk out of the wage bill to free up money.

Nathan Ferguson has recently joined on a free from West Brom and the young man looks like the real deal. He can even makeshift as a centre-back in Sakho's place if he can not play in the full-back position.

  • Andros Townsend

Since the restart, Townsend has not been the shining light that we all know he can be on a regular basis. In recent games, he seems to lose the ball a lot and his main attribute in crossing has not been shown greatly.

Earning £55k a week, it is not a great loss if Townsend stays at Selhurst Park but it is recommended that Palace go for a younger and more consistent option in the summer window.

Benrahma and Watkins who have been mentioned before would be great options if the Eagles can get them as there is big competition for their signatures. A secondary option could be Jordon Ibe or Ryan Fraser who are out-of-favour at their respective clubs and could prove to be a cheaper option as a good back-up.
