In the final match of the NWSL Challenge Cup, the Chicago Red Stars and the Houston Dash face each other in a 17:30BST kickoff on Sunday.

The Dash were definitely underdogs for the competition, having never before qualified for the NWSL playoffs - their previous highest finish coming back in 2015 when they ended the season in fifth place.

However, they have already set aside the Utah Royals and the Portland Thorns in the knockout rounds of the Challenge Cup and will be looking to go one further on Sunday.

The Red Stars have reached the NWSL playoffs in four of their previous five seasons. Last year, they reached the finals of the competition but lost 4-0 to the North Carolina Courage.

It is bound to be a tight match between two sides who have both averaged a goal in each of their games so far.

Predicted lineups

Chicago Red Stars: Naeher; Goralski, St.Georges, Ertz, Gorden; Colaprico, DiVernardo, McCaskill; Johnson, Gill, Ohai Watt

Houston Dash: Campbell; Hanson, Prisock, Naughton, Chapman; Groom, Mewis, Schmidt; Visalli, Daly, Prince

Ones to watch

Chicago Red Stars - Rachel Hill

Before Thursday's semi-final, the Red Stars had only scored three in their previous five matches, with that record now at six in six.

After Sam Kerr departed at the end of the 2019 season to join Chelsea, it was always going to be difficult for the Red Stars to be able to fill the void left by the loss of their main goalscoring outlet. If they are to be able to score on Sunday, Hill may be able to provide that threat.

The Red Stars lost out in last year's final when they played the North Carolina Courage, could they pick up their first NWSL victory on Sunday?

Houston Dash - Rachel Daly

Dash vice-captain Rachel Daly is the joint top scorer across the competition with three goals to her name so far, level with the Courage's Lynn Williams. She has also picked up one assist during the Challenge Cup.

The 28-year-old is currently playing for her fourth year in Houston after she originally joined the Dash back in 2016 and will be looking to pick up domestic silverware for the first time since she moved to the USA.

She was the sole scorer against the Portland Thorns in the semi-final, netting for the Dash in the 69th minute.

She has been a crucial element of her side during the Challenge Cup, will she prove to be the difference in the final?
