Eyes on Europe

Despite the Premier League season ending, Manchester City's season is far from over as they set their sights on the Champions League.

Their European campaign restarts in just under two weeks time when they host Real Madrid in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie.

17:57a year ago

So, the end of the game and the season brings David Silva's superb Premier League career to a close. It is somewhat of an injustice that the magician wasn't able to bow out in front of 55,000 adoring Manchester City fans, however I am sure when the time comes for his well-deserved testimonial match he will no doubt get the send off he deserves.
17:54a year ago

It was vintage Manchester City who proved too much for the Canaries. The result means Ederson takes the golden glove, City score 102 goals and Kevin De Bruyne equals Thiery Henry's assist record!

For Norwich their Premier League journey is over once again as they head back to the Championship.

Despite a couple of scares it's been a relatively comfortable first 45 minutes for the Blues. David Silva has come close to signing off with a goal on a couple of occasions but nothing for him yet.

Kevin De Bruyne's wonder strike just before the break may make his case for PFA Player of the Year even stronger now, however i still somehow reckon he would love to swap that one for an assist! He still sits one behind Henry's record with 45 minutes remaining.

Silva's Magical Moments

There is no doubt that the FA Cup is one of the most coveted prizes in football and to score in this historic competition's final on the hallow Wembley turf is the dream of any footballer. One man who has completed that dream is Silva.

When City thumped Watford 6-0 in the final of last year's competition it was the Spaniard who got the ball rolling. A header from Raheem Sterling fell into the path of Silva, and his half volleyed effort proved too much for Heurelho Gomes and found the bottom corner, sending the blue half of Wembley into delirium!

Silva's Magical Moments

Back to the assists now and this one was a special one. As always it was Sergio Aguero making the headlines as netted his first hat-trick in a City shirt back in 2011 against Wigan Athletic. However  just like so many of his goals, they were only made possible by the delightful architecture of Silva.

The Spaniard picked up the ball on the halfway line and exceptional piece of skill allowed him to squeeze between two men, before beating another with his next touch.

In typical Silva style he then neatly threaded a through ball, allowing Aguero to break free and slot home. There is no doubt that this one was one of the greatest assists in Premier League history.

Silva's Magical Moments

If you ask any City fan which game they want to win the most when the fixtures are released it will always be against arch rivals Manchester United!

p>Goals in a City shirt don't come much more important than against the Reds, and when Silva  netted the opener in the first Manchester derby of the 2018/19 campaign he took the roof off the Etihad Stadium.

A ball in from Raheem Sterling fell to Bernaro Silva, who pulled it back for his name-sake, and in typical David Silva fashion he kept his cool under pressure and smashed his finish passed David De Gea, setting his side up for an eventual 3-1 derby win!

Silva's Magical Moments

Back over to his goals and the next El Mago moment is arguably his greatest goal in a City shirt.

Back in March 2014 the Blues found themselves in another nail biting title race, eyeing up the second Premier League crown in three seasons, and when they made the trip to Hull City it had the possibility of being a real banana skin.

However, in typical Silva fashion the Spaniard cleared any early City nerves by curling a sensational left-footed strike from 25 yards into the top corner, giving Allan McGregor no chance!

Silva's Magical Moments

Next up we move away from goals and take a look at one of Silva's greatest assists.

When the Blues hammered rivals, Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford in 2011 one of the most memorable moments of the drubbing was not one of the six goals, it was instead 'El Mago's' assist for the final goal.

When a long City ball was headed down by Chris Smalling, it fell straight to Silva, and the Spaniard expertly brought it down on his chest before volleying a superb through ball, cutting the United defence in half and allowing Edin Dzeko to break free and finish to complete City's demolition.

The mesmorising assist has gone down as one of the best bits of play in City folklore.

Silva's Magical Moments

Throughout the day up until kick-off I'll be bringing you some 'El Mago's' most memorable (and of course magical) moments in a City shirt.

To kick things off let's go back to where it all started and take a look at his first ever goal Premier League goal against Blackpool in 2010. It's fair to say this one is vintage Silva.

The Spaniard picked up the ball on the edge of the box, glided passed two Blackpool defenders before curling a pin-point finish into the bottom corner to clinch his side all three points on a tricky afternoon at Bloomfield Road.
