Manchester City have announced the signing of Nathan Ake from recently relegated, Bournemouth.

The Dutchman joins the former Premier League champions for a reported £41 million, signing a deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2025.

Ake is the second signing for the Blues in as many days, after 20-year-old, Ferran Torres arrived from Valencia yesterday evening.

The former Chelsea man could have had the opportunity to return to his former club, however the West London side chose not to match City's £41 million bid. The 25-year-old was also heavily linked with local rivals, Manchester United however it is the blue half of Manchester that have got their man.

A Dream Come True For Ake

In an interview with the club website Ake said: "City have been the best side in England over the course of the last decade. Coming here is a dream come true for me. This is a top side full of world class players. Everywhere you look in the squad there a big names with international pedigree."

The defender also expressed his excitement of working with new manager, Pep Guardiola: "Pep is a manager admired across the world, what he has done in the game speaks for itself. The success he's had is unbelievable, and the style of of football he plays really appeals to me."

Blues Board Delighted With Their New Man

City Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain also told the club's website of his delight on signing the Dutch defender: "Nathan is a quality defender. He was a leader during his time at Bournemouth, and I am so pleased we have managed to bring him here."

Begiristain added: "He's strong and quick and we feel he has the technical and intellectual attributes needed to excel in Pep's setup."

The two signings in two days add to a huge week for Guardiola's side as they head into Friday's Champions League round of 16 tie against Real Madrid.
