Gillingham have completed the signing of Jordan Graham following his release from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 25-year old joined Wolves in 2015, but after a string of injuries and loan spells he was released by the club this summer.

Following reported interest from several clubs, the winger has joined the Gills and strengthens Steve Evans’ side ahead of the start of the new season next month.

The deal

Graham signs after leaving Wolves and becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Ryan Jackson, Vadaine Oliver, Jacob Mellis and Zech Medley.

Graham made seven appearances on loan for the Gills last season, but now joins the Kent side on a permanent basis.

The length of the deal has not been disclosed, but Gills fans will be extremely pleased with the signing.

Graham’s record

Born in Coventry, Graham joined Aston Villa’s youth team before signing his first professional contract at the club in 2012.

Following several loan spells, he signed for Wolves in 2015, but didn’t make a first team appearance before joining for Oxford United on loan.

He returned to Wolves after a successful loan and played for the first team before a serious knee injury put him out of action for 15 months.

Graham went out on loan again following his return to fitness, to Fulham, then Ipswich Town, then Oxford again, before signing for the Gills in January of this year.

He now joins the club permanently, with 63 professional appearances to his name.

Reaction

Gillingham manager Steve Evans told the club website: "Jordan was one of our key targets.

"The lad and his father in particular have spoken at length with numerous clubs. They have listened intently, spoke freely and made an informed decision that we are his clear choice.

“I spent hours with Jordan at the weekend and it felt great to receive his call that he wanted to join us - the hard work paid off.

"There will be a number of high profile managers in League One who will be disappointed, but I have no interest in them at all.

"The lad has spent a couple of weeks with those high profile Formula 1 drivers France, but it is now time for Jordan to get motoring on his own. He looks in awesome shape."

Graham tweeted: "I am back baby! Loved my time here last season and cannot wait to be part of a BIG season for us!

"The love you all showed me here last season clearly was not forgotten - now let's get to work!"
