Promising Newcastle United central midfielder Mo Sangare has joined Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan.

He is Accrington's fifth summer signing and is the second Toon player to join Stanley on loan after striker Tom Allan joined earlier this month.

Sangare has yet to make a senior appearance for the Magpies but has played five times for Liberia, scoring one goal.

He made 22 appearances for Newcastle's under-23s last year before the season came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 21-year-old was on the books at the Crown Ground when he first arrived in England from his native Liberia as a teenager.

  • Sangare: 'It's good to be back'

“It’s good to be back. I spent around eight months here when I first came over from Liberia," said Sangare on his return to Accrington.

"When I first came over, I couldn’t speak a lot of English and going to Accrington and Rossendale College helped me.

“I know Ross Sykes and Reagan Ogle from that time and obviously it helps with Tom Allan being here on loan from Newcastle as well.

“On the field, I would describe myself as aggressive and powerful, I like to get forward but I also help out defensively depending on the situation.

“I think the football will suit me here, physically I am sure I will cope and now getting used to the lads is key and try and get myself in the team."

  • Stanley manager believes Sangare 'will be a big asset'

Accrington manager John Coleman said: “He is a young lad, we know him, he was here as a kid but we couldn’t get a work permit for him at that time.

"He went to Ireland and made his way to Newcastle and he is a strong presence in midfield and it’s an area we needed to strengthen.

“Once he gets himself fully fit, he will be a big asset.”

  • Where may Sangare fit in the Newcastle side in the future?

An opportunity to break into the first team in Newcastle's central midfield seems to be almost impossible for Mo Sangare at this stage - due to the number of players currently ahead of him in that position.

It looks evident that this loan move to Accrington can only be seen as a positive thing for the footballing career of Mo Sangare.

It is clear to see that a loan move to League One can help to make that crucial breakthrough into the first team, as shown by fellow Newcastle midfielders Sean Longstaff and Dan Barlaser.

His international selections prove that Sangare is a talent that may just be utilised by Newcastle in the future.

Sangare is a natural box-to-box midfielder who can be prominent both offensively and defensively, making him one of the most important assets on the pitch at any given time.

If he can have a successful season out on loan, as shown by Dan Barlaser this season, Sangare may just be hovering around Steve Bruce's side in the 2021/22 campaign.
