Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has said that four of his new signings will make their debuts for the Blades against Burnley on Thursday.

Wilder's side travel to Turf Moor on Thursday for the second round of the League Cup hoping to bounce back from defeat on the opening day of the Premier League season against Wolves.

In that game Wilder stuck with the majority of players that earned the Blades promotion from the Championship with only Oli McBurnie and Aaron Ramsdale not being part of that side.

  • Time to shine for new signings

The Blades have made five key signings this transfer window including goalkeeper Ramsdale who made his second Sheffield United debut on Monday.

Wilder has told the club's media that the other four signings will start on Thursday:

Oli (Burke), Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe will start. Ethan Ampadu will get his first start, [I'm] really looking forward to those players playing.”

Bogle, Lowe and Ampadu will give a new look to the back line of Wilder's side which has been key to their success in recent years.

Oli Burke, who signed from West Brom in a swap deal for Callum Robinson, will provide pace and power at the top of the pitch, something the Blades have lacked recently.

  • Transfer window not over for Wilder

In addition to the players making their debuts on Thursday, Chris Wilder as admitted that the Blades are not quite finished in this transfer window. Sheffield United have declared their interest in Arsenal U23 striker Folarian Balagun.

“We made an enquiry regarding the young man at Arsenal," Wilder told the club's media.

"That’s left with the CEO at our football club and at Arsenal. We want attributes at the top of the pitch that move us forward.”

Sheffield United are also continually being linked with Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster which would add more fire power to the Blades attacking options.
