Newport County host Barrow as both clubs look for their first victory of the season.

Each side are coming off of 1-1 draws last week with the Exiles playing to a stalemate at Scunthorpe United while the Bluebirds' return to the EFL after a 48-year absence began with a draw with Stevenage.

Newport have a fully fit squad with the only exception being David Longe-King, who still remains sidelined.

The only possible change from their opening match being in goal with Nick Townsend hoping to keep his place over Tom King after a fine showing at Scunthorpe.

Barrow will be without top scorer Scott Quigley through suspension as well as Josh Kay through injury. Brad Barry boosted the Bluebirds defence after returning to action against Stevenage.

  • Predicted lineups

Barrow (3-4-1-2) Dixon; Ntihe, Platt, J. Jones; Brown, Beadling, M. Jones, Barry; Hardcastle; Angus, Hindle.

  • Ones to watch

With Quigley still unavailable, Dior Angus is Barrow's biggest threat. The striker scored a dozen goals last term, all coming from October onwards. He also struck from the penalty spot last week against Stevenage.

Padraig Amond is Newport's leading scorer since arriving from Hartlepool United ahead of the 2017-18 season, collecting 51 goals in 159 appearances for the Welsh outfit.

  • Previous meetings

Barrow have won three of the previous six meetings with Newport claiming victory twice and earning one draw.

Their last meeting was in 2013, with Barrow running out 2-0 winners at a snowy Rodney Parade on the strength of goals from Matthew Flynn and Danny Rowe.

The match can be seen on the iFollow channels of each club which are ‘iFollow Exiles’ for Newport and ‘iFollow Barrow’ for the Bluebirds. A pass to watch is £10. Kickoff is at 15:00 BST.

  • Managers comments

Barrow boss David Dunn knows how big of a challenge Newport pose, saying "Newport will be a really difficult game, so everyone needs to know their jobs, everyone needs to be right on it.

"They're very organized, they're a threat at the top of the pitch and will put balls in our box but they are also defensively very good. It's a big job for us but if we play well then I know we're more than capable of going there and getting a positive result."
