Full time

The referee blows for full time and Cardiff have picked up their first three points of the new season. Moore put the Bluebirds in front early and added a second just before halftime.

Credit to Forest for a fine second half display, but it was much too little, much too late. They'll need to very much improve if they are to be promotion contenders this season.

That's all from the City Ground for now. For all of us at VAVEL, this is John Lupo signing off and saying good night.

Take care, everyone.

Forest wayward in front of goal

90'+1 Bacuna loses track of the ball and it travels through to Taylor who fires a wild shot over the bar. That about sums it up for Forest.

Three minutes of extra time

The referee has signalled for three minutes of added time.

Late pressure from hosts

90' Well, Forest are still trying. Taylor flicks on for MIghten, who shoots wide.

Forest late chance

88' Substitute Mighten fizzes a cross through a crowd of bodies inside the box but Smithies paws it away. He continues to be Cardiff's best player in the second 45 minutes.

Another change for each side

80' Jenkinson is off for Forest, replaced by Mighten while Cardiff send on Bamba to replace the injured Bennett.

Cardiff make another change

77' Lee Tomlin is on for Hoilett.

Change for both teams

74' Guerrero replaces Grabban for Forest while Cardiff send on Vaulks for Ojo.

Half-chance for Forest

72' Taylor is putting himself about again, sliding in dangerously on Smithies after he'd collected a low Freeman cross. The referee wants to have a word with him.

Smithies doing brilliantly

69' Grabban scoops up a loose ball and he attempts to volley it goalwards but is blocked by the big frame of Smithies. The Cardiff goalkeeper has been superb in this second half.

Grabban more involved

66' Grabban gets in a cross into the box towards Freeman whose touch on the ball before Smithies punches it to safety.

Cardiff chance

60' Ojo holds up the ball well waiting for Ralls, who he feeds, but Worrall gets in a crucial block.

Hosts pressing

58' Ameobi drifts inside from the right onto his left foot and lashes a shot towards goal but Smithies is equal to it tipping the ball over.

Forest chance!

53' Jenkinson sends in a lovely cross that Yates rises to meet, but his header into the ground is tipped over by Smithies. The hosts are finally finding their way into this match.

Forest trying to create

49' Freeman sends in a cross that Osei-Tutu clears to safety. That's a better start for Forest.

Halftime whistle

HT The referee blows for halftime and it can't come soon enough for Forest, who are getting dominated. Moore has been brilliant so far, picking up a brace as Cardiff look set for all three points.

Cardiff hunting for a third

44' Ojo cuts in from the right and he bends his shot in that Samba easily saves. Cardiff sure aren't sitting on their lead.

Cardiff doubles their lead!

GOAL! 40' You knew that was coming. Morrison nods on a hopeful ball and Moore anticipates wonderfully to head past an onrushing Samba. Nothing more than Cardiff deserve.

Cardiff dominating

38' Ojo tries a shot a shot in a tough position and Samba denies him.

Forest substitution

37' First change of the game as Taylor replaces Lolley.

Cardiff go close again!

35' Moore is proving to be an astute signing as he sends one in the path of Ralls, but his first touch lets him down and Samba gathers.

Missed chance for Cardiff

32' Cardiff waste a free-kick opportunity as Ojo's cross is easily blocked and for a moment it looks as though Forest can counter before Freeman cedes possession on the halfway line.

Moore dominating

29' Moore is causing more problems for the Forest defense as he receives a pass from Colback, but the hosts deal with the danger.

Forest chance

16' Finally the hosts are onto something as Freeman cuts onto his left foot and sends in a deep cross towards the far post where Grabban is, but he volleys over the top from close-range! He'll regret not doing better with that chance.

Cardiff looking for a second

11' The goal has buoyed the visitors as Ralls has a go, it bounces off of Moore's heel and Hoilett sends one past the upright.

Cardiff take the lead!

GOAL! 3' That didn't take the visitors long as they go out in front through Kieffer Moore as the former Wigan Athletic man heads home Pack's corner. Terrible defending from Forest, though.
