Stones back in the picture:

For many it looked certain that centre back John Stones had played his final game in a Manchester City shirt and was inevitably set for a move elsewhere, but the inclusion of Stones in last night's game change everything. From afar it now looks like Pep is willing to put his trust back in the Barnsley-born defender, a fresh start is often what many players need and with Nathan Ake to his left we could be seeing the new City centre back pairing for the season,

Business as usual:

A great start from the Blues saw their typical cut throat approach putting Wolves under some serious pressure early, making the calmest of defenders in Conor Coady look shaky. It took just 20 minutes to break the deadlock with Moroccan defender Romain Saiss lunging in on Kevin De Bruyne to give away a penalty which was finished with some class by the Belgian midfielder.

A lethal move down the right saw City make it two before the second half was up with Phil Foden getting in on the act. A determined Wolves fought back in the second half through a Raul Jimenez strike, however the Blues were back to their best and killed the game off in added time through Gabriel Jesus

Ake at the back-

It was a bigger night for Dutch defender Nathan Ake than anyone as he was thrown in for his first start and debut in a strong back four last night. Many were nervous to see how he would get on due to the tiresome defensive situation that has swept over the club for many years now, but it was safe to say he looked more than capable of completing the task at hand.

Torres makes his debut

It was a proud night for new signing Fernan Torres who was replaced for Raheem Sterling in the 78th minute. It wasn't the best circumstance to come on in, with Wolves pressing City and Guardiola having his men sit back and defend but, when on the counter he looked quick, sharp and a handful down the line which is exactly why Pep brought him in.
