Brighton & Hove Albion will go for consecutive league wins for the first time since October 2019 when Manchester United make the trip to the AMEX Stadium.

The Seagulls are full of confidence after two Carabao Cup victories were separated with three points courtesy of a 3-0 win at Newcastle United last weekend.

Man United, however, will be searching for their first points of their Premier League campaign after a disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Team news

Seagulls boss Graham Potter has a decision to make in midfield with Yves Bissouma serving his second of a three-match suspension and Dale Stephens leaving for Burnley. The fit-again Adam Lallana will be pushing for a start alongside Pascal Gross, who impressed in the midweek Carabao Cup win at Preston. Otherwise, Albion will be hoping to name a similar team from that which gained plaudits in Tyneside last week.

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Eric Bailly could return to United’s defence at the AMEX Stadium. Determined to bounce back from last week’s shock defeat, the Reds boss has admitted they must improve at the back.

Summer signing Donny van de Beek will also be pushing for his full Premier League debut having come off the bench to score in that defeat to Crystal Palace, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka could come in for Timothy Fosu-Mensah at right-back.

Predicted Lineups

Seagulls: Ryan; White, Dunk, Webster; Lamptey, Lallana, Alzate, March; Trossard; Maupay, Connolly. Subs: Steele, Bernardo, Burn, Gross, Jahanbakhsh, Molumby, Veltman.

United: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw; Pogba, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial. Subs: Henderson, Fosu-Mensah, van de Beek, James, Lindelof, Ighalo, McTominay.

Ones to watch

After scoring a brace at Newcastle last weekend, Neal Maupay will be hoping to find the net once again. Interestingly, the Seagulls are yet to lose a Premier League in which he has scored (W6, D5). The Frenchman also quietened talk of Albion needing a new striker, something boss Potter was keen to emphasis.

“Everybody has been telling me that we’re light up front,” said the Albion boss. “But we’ve got some young talent coming through that can get better and improve and we’re obviously pleased for Neal scoring the goals and Aaron (Connolly) alongside him.”

After coming under increased scrutiny, David De Gea needs a big game in goal for the Red Devils. In an interview this week he said that he’s feeling as good as he’s ever felt in his career and is determined to help the club win more trophies. That comes after Dean Henderson impressed in Tuesday night’s win at Luton Town, keeping a clean sheet in the 3-0 loss.

“I feel very, very well and very confident and very positive and that’s very important for me,” he told manutd.com. “Now it’s time to be back to winning ways and winning trophies, that’s the most important thing for us at the moment.”

Head to head

The Red Devils won at the AMEX at the third time of asking back at the end of June. Bruno Fernandes scored twice after Mason Greenwood opened the scoring in a 3-0 win, with the Seagulls having prevailed on the previous two occasions on the south coast in 2017/18 and 2018/19.

Where to watch

The game is live on BT Sport - kick-off is 12:30 PM at the AMEX Stadium.
