VAR controversy send Everton to the top of the Premier League. 

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored an early goal which was cancelled out by Kouyate's first goal of the season. 

Kevin Friend gave Everton a penalty on the 40th minute following a handball by Joel Ward. 

Everton's robust side held out to take all three points back to Merseyside.  

There will be four minutes of added time. 

Palace sub: Off comes Eze, on comes Batshuyai. A very good full Premier League debut for Eze. 

Free-kick for Palace. Mina handheld the ball to deny Ayew breaking through on goal. 

Richarlison booked for a foul on Townsend. 

A glorious chance for Calvert-Lewin! He slipped in between Kouyate and Sakho to meet Rodríguez's corner, but the striker could only toe-poke the ball just wide. 

Another free-kick to Palace. This time Eze is fould by Allan. 

Digne fouls Ayew and hands Palace a free-kick in a dangerous position. 

Palace get us underway for the second half!

A Richarlison penalty gives The Toffes' the lead at half-time. Roy Hodgson will feel aggrieved at the decision, with his side looking the brighter for the majority of the second half.

A Townsend corner was begging for someone to meet it. 6ft 2inch Kouyate leapt above Keane and planted a header home to level the game!

Palace are trying to wether to storm of Everton. The Eagles are yet to have a clear cut chance. 

The Toffees robust midfield are dominating the game. 

Zaha booked for a coming together with Yerry Mina. Harsh. 

Corner for Palace. 

Coleman glides past Mitchell, he sends a cross low into the box and Calvert-Lewin taps home to open the scoring!

Good chance for Everton. Doucouré forces a shot goal-bound, but Guaita was well placed to smother the shot. 

Foul on Richarlison from Joel ward. 

Free-kick to Palace, Gomes and Allan foul Townsend. However, Townsend wanted to play on.

Free-kick for Everton inside their own area. Mina was fouled by Sakho, who was climbing over the Colombian to win the ball.

Everton are unchanged this afternoon. Carlo Ancelotti's side are looking to make it five wins in a row.

 

Eberechi Eze makes his full Premier League, Crystal Palace debut, due to an injury to Jeffrey Schlupp.

Wilfried Zaha, who is priced at £7.1 million, has scored an impressive 23 points in just two games. 

Everton focal point, £7.3 million, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has been prolific in front of goal these first two games, scoring 25 points. 

Tyrick Mitchell has been this seasons FPL bargain! Priced at just £4.1 million, the 20-year-old has become the starting left-back in a defensively sound side.

Two teams who have defied expectations in their first two matches. 

Roy Hodgson reminded everybody of his credentials. He came into Palace when they were in a horrible mess and steadied the ship. A cluster of injuries threatened to derail the club's start to this new campaign. However, his defensive shape has frustrated the life out of Southampton and Man United while Wilfried Zaha looked rejuvenated. 

Everton, too, have hit the ground running. A remarkably mature performance on the opening weekend saw them snatch three points against Tottenham Hotspur. They then hit five goals past West Bromwich Albion. The match against Albion showed more evidence of what a confident James Rodriguez could deliver for Carlo Ancelotti. 

Palace's success so far has been heavily reliant on scoring early. Doing so allows them to slip into a rigid defensive shape and play a more effective counter-attacking game. But Everton have looked really sharp so they should expect a tougher examination of their credentials. 

Prediction: 1-1 

Palace: Guaita; Ward, Kouyate, Dann, Mitchell; Townsend, McArthur, McCarthy, Schlupp; Zaha, Ayew. 

Everton: Pickford; Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne; Doucoure, Allan, Gomes; Rodriguez, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison. 

“Hodgson is a fantastic manager who knows the Premier League and the characteristics of his players,” Ancelotti said. “He’s built a strong, well-organised team and uses the character of his players. We have a good test tomorrow. Palace, as us, have started really well. They played a fantastic game against Manchester United.”

On Pickford: “There is a lot of focus on him but, I have to be honest, he started really well and did a fantastic match against Tottenham. I am not really focused on him, like you.  He is a great goalkeeper.”

On Calvert-Lewin: “The player is motivated to improve. We are trying to help him. Most of the job he already did because he’s a really good player. He has a possibility to improve his matches, his quality. But he has the quality and where he can improve is in consistency.”

 

"It's always good to get points on the board. We looked at our fixtures when they came out and thought it would be a difficult period. Now we know we're capable of this level of performance we need to repeat it again."

"Transformation isn't the word I'd use. Some of the performances [last season] weren't actually poor performances. We are trying to carry on what we were doing."

"It's nice to have those two games and two performances but we've got a tough task on Saturday against Everton. I thought last year they were a good team, too. I think they have made three excellent signings."

"We're happy with our signings. Eze and Michy have been fantastic since coming in and have proved they can improve the quality."

Tyrick got his chance at the end of last season, took that chance well and has really continued in pre-season and the start of this season. He has been a big plus."

Everton have been hit with a mini injury crisis at the back; with Yerry Mina and Michael Keane, the only fit centre-backs at the club. 

Jonas Lossl, former Palace striker, Cenk Tosun and midfielder, Jean-Philippe Gbamin all remain on the treatment table with long term issues. 

Gary Cahill, James Tomkins, Nathan Ferguson and Patrick Van-Aanholt are all absent for Palace, with the quartet still recovering from long term injuries.

Christian Benteke has returned to the squad after a broken bone in his foot saw him miss the first two games.  

Hodgson is unlikely to change a winning team.

Both of these sides have started the 2020/21 campaign exquisitely. 

Everton put in a commanding 1-0 opening day victory against Spurs, then dismantled West Brom 5-2, courtesy of a Dominic Calvert-Lewin hat-trick. 

Palace have shocked the Premier League this season. The Eagles dismal end to last season, suffering seven straight defeats, the south Londoners were amongst the favourites for relegation this season. 

However, Roy Hodgson has revitalised his squad and with competitions for places high, Palace were inspired against Southampton, before an impressive 3-1 away victory at Old Trafford, forced the rest of the league to stand up and take note of the club's impressive off-season.
