As it happened: Sheffield United 0-1 Leeds United in the Premier League

FT There's the final whistle and a lively game comes to an end with Leeds firmly in the top six as they snatch all three points late on thanks to Bamford, who has three goals on the season.

Sheffield United are bottom of the Premier League with no points and no goals, but truth be told, if it wasn't for Meslier, things could have been different.

90'+3 Sheffield United's first response since the goal, and Osborn and Basha play a lovely  one-two in the Leeds box but Osborn's cross is straight at Meslier with Sharp waiting for a close-range finish!

90' The referee signals for five minutes of extra time......and Rodrigo is replaced by Alioski.

GOAL! 88' Rodrigo sends it out wide to Harrison and the winger whips in a superb left-footed cross. 

It's teed up for Bamford and he meets it with a fantastic header, back across Ramsdale and giving the Sheffield United goalkeeper no chance! 

86' Dallas with a long-range effort and an easy save for Ramsdale.

81' Sheffield United hands on heads! It's an inviting cross and McBurnie throws himself at it but Robinson gets the touch with his right boot and flicks it just wide of the far post. How did he not score?

77' Ramsdale with another good stop as Poveda fires from 20 yards out.

74' Sharp and McBurnie replace Burke and McGoldrick.

72' Harrison is causes Sheffield United all sorts of problems down the left. He leaves Basham for dead with a burst of pace and stands a great ball up to the back post, but Bamford cannot rise high enough to get his head on it.

67' Poveda comes on for his Premier League debut as he replaces Costa.

66' Harrison injects some pace into the Leeds attack with a bulldozing run down the left. His cross reaches Leeds record signing Rodrigo 12 yards out, but he can't keep his header on target.

64' First change for the hosts as Norwood comes on for Lundstram.

61' Dallas gambles with a run in behind and a hopeful long ball somehow finds it way through the Sheffield United defence. 

He then rounds Ramsdale and sends a shot trickling towards goal, but Basham recovers in the nick of time to clear off the line.

59' Lundstram and Stevens combine nicely in the final third, with the fullback bringing in his teammate's back-heel before testing Meslier with a dipping near-post drive.

58' Lundstram is booked for a harsh challenge on Dallas.

55' Leeds have spent the majority of the first half in Sheffield United territory and are starting to turn it on.

The visitors win back possession high up the field and quick burst of pace from Bamford sees him leave Robinson, but Ramsdale is a match to his near-post drive.

51' Dallas looks to pick out the late run of Costa with a floated ball to the back post but Stevens reads the situation well to head behind for a corner.

Bamford looks to get his head on the corner into the Sheffield United area but he's penalized for having a handful of his marker's shirt.

47' A corner goes as far as Costa, who draws another fine save out of Ramsdale.

45' Rodrigo comes in for Roberts.

40' Baldock beats Harrison and blasts a shot that Meslier gets his fingertips to.

38' Superb one-touch football from Leeds as Dallas drives forward, plays a one-two with Phillips and improvises with a shot off the outside of his right boot that is destined for the top corner until a similarly outstanding save from Ramsdale tips it around the post.

32' Harrison's delivery from the left finds Bamford in a pocket of space between Ampadu and Robinson. He gets up high to get a header away but misses the target. He should have done better.

29' Osborn breaks down the left and plays a low ball into McGoldrick in the area. His cheeky flick is played to Lundstram, who sends one towards the bottom corner, but an incredible save from Meslier at point-blank range keeps it goalless.

26' Phillips drives in a free kick that finds Bamford between two Sheffield United defenders, but his header goes over.

22' Burke lays off for Osborn, but his lay-off is cleared by Harrison.

16' Dallas with a fine move as he looks for Harrison, but he can't quite get the pass right.

9' Sheffield United pile bodies forward after Ampadu intercepts a Leeds attack. Berge then picks up the baton, driving towards the box and finding McGoldrick free on the right, but his cross is cut out by Klich.

6' Phillips with a hard tackle on McGoldrick and Osborn plays in Lundstram, but his shot is wide of the post. Once play is stopped, Phillips is booked.

4' Ayling with a powerful drive that forces Ramsdale into a fine save.

3' Leeds burst into life in attack as a superb through pass from Klich releases Harrison away down the left. He drives into the area and cuts the ball back to the penalty spot, where it is cleared by the Blades.

“It’s very clear the importance of what Sheffield have done, firstly getting promoted and then the season they had last year in the Premier League.

“It’s a team with a particular style of play which is ingrained, well-oiled.

“They have a very good manager, he has been able to ingrain his ideas into his players and the players clearly feel comfortable in the system imposed.

“This is one of the virtues of a good manager, someone who is able to ingrain his ideas on his players and make it look comfortable.

“It is a practical team, very difficult to face and the game on Sunday is a big challenge for us.”

"You have some great games in this league our focus is to make sure we are playing these every year, but from a local boy these two teams certainly add something extra to a game.

The Whites will not have Adam Forshaw and Pablo Hernandez available as both are out with injuries while new signing Diego Llorente could feature.

The Blades will be without defender John Egan, who is suspended and forward Lys Mousset, who will miss out with a toe injury.

Sheffield United have not begun their second season in the Premier League well, dropping their first two games to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa scoring none and conceding three.

Leeds have been one of the most exciting teams in the division to watch in the early going, playing brilliantly against Liverpool in a 4-3 defeat to the champions whilst knocking off fellow new boys Fulham by the same score last Saturday.

Sheffield United vs Leeds United will be played at Bramall Lane, in South Yorkshire, England.
