Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Moutinho claims that since his arrival, the group of players that he has been playing with at the club have been one of the best in the entirety of his career to date.

Moutinho joined Wolves in the summer of 2018 from Monaco for around £5 million and previously has experienced good spells with both Sporting CP and FC Porto.

The Portuguese central midfielder has been an integral member of Nuno Espirito Santo's squad since his arrival and has been an ever-present force in the club's successful last two campaigns in the Premier League.

"Our group is very good"

Right-back Nelson Semedo made his debut for the Wanderers last time out against West Ham United after joining for £29 million from Barcelona, and Moutinho for one is pleased to see him come on board to the pack.

He said according to Wolves official website: "I know him very well. I saw him play in Benfica, Barcelona and the national team. He is a great player and a great person too.

"This is important for us because our group is very good. For these three years, it has been one of the best groups I have had in football.

"To bring players like that, with these qualities, it is very good for us. I think he is going to help us a lot in the game, That is what we expect. Of course, he will expect to do the best to help the team."

"We will continue to work"

After playing four games in all competitions so far this season, Wolves sit 16th in the Premier League after winning one and losing two of their first three games.

Meanwhile, they have also been knocked out of the EFL Cup after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat against Championship outfit Stoke City at Molineux.

When commenting on his team's start to the 2020/21 campaign, Moutinho said: "We know what we have done well and what we need to work on.

"So we will continue to work- to do our best to win the next game. That is the most important thing."

"I like to help young people

Due to him having earned much high-level experience across Portugal, France and now England, there is no doubt that he is a senior member of the squad that can be looked up to.

When speaking on this, Moutinho said: "I have responsibility, like they have. It does not only come with age. We all have our responsibilities.

"I like to help young people, but I try to learn with them too. We are all learning every day. If we think we know everything we stop improving.

"I try to teach what I know with my experience, so we are better than the last day.

"We already know what he wants

After making such a huge impact for the club since his appointment in 2017, a day before Wolves opening game of the season manager Santo signed a new three-year contract with the club.

This is something that Moutinho is clearly delighted to have been done as he mentioned: "What he, the team and staff have done for three years is amazing.

"They have done a great job and to continue with the same coach and staff, we already know what he wants."

The midfielder continued: "We continue to work to get better. It is difficult as the Premier League is the best league in the world, but we have ambitions and we want to continue every year to do our best."
