Arsenal confirmed that Gabriel Magalhaes has been voted September's Player of the Month by a huge margin.

He is followed by Alexandre Lacazette and Hector Bellerín in second and third place. It is rare to see such a huge difference in these votes but it seems that the Brazilian has impressed in his first month.

Explosive first month

Gabriel has played in two Premier League games in September and the Gunners won both of them. Gabriel recorded one goal, one clean sheet, and one Man of the Match performance throughout these games.

It is also important to note that the defender missed the game where Arsenal lost 3-1 against Liverpool, as this was a fan-voted award, not playing in a loss can bolster a player's reputation just as much.

The defender also contributed to a clean sheet at Anfield in the League Cup and helped to secure a hard-fought win against Sheffield United in early October. These should not count toward the award but these fan votes can be influenced by such things as well.

Arteta: 'I think he has the physical and technical attributes to adapt really well to the league'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised the Brazilian for his mental strength and calmness.:

"I saw from the first day, he has a lot of personality, he has big courage to play and he's not impressed by anything. He's very secure, very stable mentally as well throughout the game and I think he has the physical and technical attributes to adapt really well to the league.

"That's why we signed him, but credit to him because to do it in this short space of time, I think that's a big thing."

While it is a small pattern to draw big conclusions from it, Arteta trusts the Brazilian to keep up this form so fans should be hopeful going forward.
