Barnsley caretaker manager Adam Murray admits that he was frustrated that his side were not able to pick up all three points following their 2-2 draw away to Stoke City.

The Tykes twice took the lead but ultimately were unable to hold on,  with goalkeeper Jack Walton's error in the 48th minute costing them their first league victory of the season.

On Barnsley's performance

When speaking after the game on what he thought of his team's showing, Murray said: "I thought overall the performance was again very good. I thought we were in control for a lot of the game.

"I felt we had a game plan that worked. We scored two very good goals and I think in the end it is more frustration than anything that we haven't come away with a win."

On lacking the finishing touch

Murray went on to comment on how he felt his side did when going forward when he said: "We have got a squad of players that I believe can score goals. Especially in those forward areas.

"I have spoken a lot in the last couple of weeks about getting into better areas turning chances into very good chances. I think we did that tonight but especially in the last 20 minutes, we were just lacking that finishing touch which is frustrating.”

On Walton error that led to second goal

Despite goalkeeper Walton making a huge error which ultimately led to Stoke's second equaliser, Murray still praised him for the number of times that the 22-year-old has previously saved Barnsley in games.

"It is one of those things but goalkeeper's make these errors and when they make errors they always get punished.

"I think for us we won't speak about it again. Jack is obviously frustrated but if it were not for Jack I do not think that we would still be in the Championship, so we move on."

On remaining winless in the league

With this result, it means that after six games in the Championship, Barnsley have drawn three and lost three games.

Although, despite this record, Murray acknowledges that after drawing the last two games against strong opponents in the form of Bristol City and Stoke, there are positives that can be taken from it.

"We can all talk about the obvious. We know where we are. We have put two very good performances in, two games where we believe we should have won.

"But we are where we are, we need to push on to the next one. The boys need to take the positives out of it and we need to be confident in our performance because we have played two teams who are tipped for promotion and in both games arguably we should have won."

On Callum Brittain's debut

Full back Brittain made his first appearance for his new club at the Bet365 Stadium after joining the Tykes from MK Dons on the 10th October, and Murray for one was very impressed with the 22-year-old's performance.

"I am really chuffed for him. I felt towards the end you could tell he was tiring a little bit but I thought he was confident.

"He was on the front defensively, he did his job really well. Like I said we had a game plan today and Callum was a big part of that and he executed his role perfectly".
