Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media following Liverpool's nervy win against Danish side FC Midtjylland.

After a rather slow start to the game, Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the hosts just before the hour mark, adding his name into the Liverpool history books, with the club's 10,000th goal.

The visitors had more chances than most get on a usual visit to Anfield, but they failed to make any of them count. It wasn't until added time that the Reds would be able to relax, when Mohamed Salah was brought down in the box, before he dusting himself down converting the subsequent spot-kick.

''They pressed like crazy, made a really hectic game and we couldn't calm it down in the decisive moments''

Klopp was full of praise for the opposition. Many had disregarded the Danish champions as just another hurdle for Liverpool to surpass on their European marathon.

Brian Priske's side caused the English champions many problems over the course of the game with Liverpool's much-rotated side failing to land any substantial blow until Salah put the game beyond any doubt in injury time.

"He did really well. The only problem we have now is there are four days until West Ham, and every day you will make a story about him and he'll have to deal with that as well!"

The casualty list at Melwood physio rooms just continue to increase by the game. Tonight it was Fabinho's turn to pull up, with a suspected hamstring injury. And it was young Rhys Williams who was called upon just after the half-hour mark.

The young centre half, who spent last season on loan at Kidderminster Harriers, didn't put a foot wrong. It's not the first time we've seen him comfortably slot in with the seniors, and with injuries growing at an exponential rate, it certainly won't be the last we see of him.

"I don't know. We have to see. If it was one game at the end of the season, we could probably make one or the other play. But we have a game three days later. The players need a proper build-up."

And it looks like young Williams could be in line for a first Premier League start on Saturday evening, as Klopp refused to give clarity on Joel Matip's latest injury.

Gauging from Klopp's comments Matip will most likely be fit for Liverpool's Champions League fixture against Atalanta next week, instead of being risked against the Hammers this weekend.

"We will get the result tomorrow morning - you know how muscle injuries are. After we get the result, we go from that."

There was no immediate diagnosis on Fabinho's injury from the manager. However, he's expected to miss  Liverpool's next two fixtures at the very least.

"Hendo said at half-time he wanted to carry on, but I decided before the game we would share it, 45 minutes each. I didn't want to lose Hendo actually, but Gini did really well."

Jordan Henderson was withdrawn from the action at half time, to the dissatisfaction of many on social media. Many were worried the captain could've been nursing a knock he picked up during the first half.

Klopp eased the worries of those at home, stating that it was always planned that he'd make way for Gini Wijnaldum during the interval, ahead of Saturday's game.
