Leicester City have made it two wins from two in their Europa League campaign after the Foxes beat AEK Athens 2-1 away from home.

Jamie Vardy won a penalty in which he himself converted to open the scoring, before Hamza Choudhury scored on his European debut to double the East Midland side's lead.

Muamer Tankovic halved the host's deficit early in the second half but Leicester saw out the game and have now claimed six points out of a possible six so far in their European outings.

Brendan Rodgers spoke to BT Sport following his sides victory and here are some of the key quotes from his interview.

On his side's performance

"I'm delighted with the result, it was a very professional performance. There were some good moments in the first half.

"Early second half we had a really good chance to go 3-0 up and then literally just after that they get the goal so then they have a little bit of momentum. We then had to dig deep and stay strong and I think we did that really well."

"Away from home in Europe it's always tough but I thought we saw the game out really well and I'm delighted with three points."

Leicester looked in control in the first half of the game and a 2-0 lead at half time had seen the game in their control.

AEK started brightly in the second half and changes to their front line were immediately rewarded with a goal, but Leicester showed their professionalism to see out the game and claim the three points.

The result resembles Rodgers' side's third win in a row in all competitions, showing that the in-form Foxes are coping well with the influx of games this season.

On Wes Morgan

"There were so many excellent performances, guys that aren't playing a great deal like Wes [Morgan] came in and was outstanding. You need him, he's a proper man and anything that comes into the box, he defends it and he heads it."

As the Leicester squad is stripped to its bare bones due to injury concerns, Wes Morgan's performance will come as a great relief to Rodgers as his captain showed that he can still be relied on.

Wesley Fofana's start in a Leicester shirt has been incredibly promising, but to have Morgan alongside him who boasts a wealth of experience and leadership qualities will only be a good thing for him and the rest of the side.

On other key performers

"Cengiz [Under] has got quality and he is going to be a really good player for us. He is just getting himself up to speed and that's why we are dipping him in and out of games.

"I thought Hamza [Choudhury] going in having not played so much was excellent and ends up getting the winning goal. Marc Albrighton playing as a wing-back and the work he put in.

"I thought there was a great mentality and a great effort by the team."

As the side struggles with injury and copes with the busy schedule, it is key that the players called into action perform well and the performances on show indicates how Leicester's squad depth has improved.

None of the players that Rodgers had highlighted have played regularly this season, so it will give the Northern Irishman great confidence that he is still able to call on them when needed.

On injuries

[Christian Fuchs' substitution at half time] "It was one because Jonny [Evans] wasn't playing, we didn't want to risk him for any longer than we had to so 45 minutes was good and then Luke [Thomas] comes in and did very well as well.

"Thankfully at the minute, no more injuries."

Injuries have been a constant issue to contend with this season for Leicester as Rodgers confirmed before the game that Jonny Evans and Timothy Castagne have been added to their casualty list with respective back and hamstring problems.

The management of his player's fitness will have become top priority for the Leicester boss as he has to think ahead to future matches, so the rotation of his squad will be a constant theme as many players fight for a return from injury.

On the fight for top of the group

"It has only been two games so there are four to go but I obviously think that if you can start well and with two wins, two good wins, I'm absolutely delighted."

As the group begins to take shape, it is clear that SC Braga are the main rivals for top spot in the group as the Portuguese side boasts an identical record to Leicester so far.

The two come up against each other next in the group stage at the King Power Stadium, with the clash already looking important as to who will claim top spot by the end of the round.
