"It's a strange thing that so much activity takes place on the final day. I'm not sure I truly understand it if I am brutally honest."
Clean sheets
"Yes, I am happy with every clean sheet. We know the goals we have let in during particular games, we know that's not typical.
"I believe we are capable of playing matches and keeping clean sheets."
On Newcastle
"They have some very good players. Looking at their squad today, they have a lot of options and a number of quality players they can turn to.
"We are expecting a very tough game tomorrow."
On the formation change
"With the type of players we have, we are not 100% committed to the system."
On Mateta starting
"We are very happy with him and he's getting more to tune in life in the Premiership, with us and with south East London."
Hodgson also confirms he will start if called upon.
Making the squad feel at home
"I think it's a source of pride. It's nice to know when you sign players you can keep them satisfied to stay with out.
"It's been a very stable group of players. We have a good bunch. If I Steve Parish and the owners I would be proud."
Guaita's new deal
"We did the deal with Vicente some while ago."
"We are very pleased to have him, he has been very consistent in his performances and made some very important saves."
On transfers
"No. We have a squad of players who will be more that capable of taking us through the season."
Hodgson also confirms Benteke will not be leaving and he will be traveling up to Newcastle.

"McArthur was injured and unfortunately we picked up quite a few serious knocks during the game."

James Tomkins
On Saturday, Hodgson confirmed that James Tomkins was sent to see a specialist over the weekend, due to the defender fracturing his eye socket in a 'training ground incident'.
We are likley to find out the extent of that injury this afternoon.

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita has earned a contract extension with the club, signing a deal until June 2023 with an option to extend for another year.

4-4-2 had been the Achilles heel for Palace in recent weeks with the midfield overrun leaving the defence exposed.
However, a change to 4-2-3-1, allowed Palace to express their attacking freedom, whilst also providing much needed cover through the middle of the pitch.

The Eagles picked up their second win of 2021 on Saturday, thanks to a moment of brilliance from Eberechi Eze.
The three points relinquished the weighty pressure off Hodgson’s shoulders and he will be keen to carry that form into Newcastle on Tuesday evening.
