As it happened: Liverpool 2 -0 RB Leipzig in the Champions League

What a game! Thank you for joining me tonight and hopefully we can see more excitement in the Champions League soon!

Liverpool through to the Quarter Final of the Champions League. Goals from Salah and Mane won it for the reds in both ties. Brilliant defensive display in particularly Nat Philips who won everything that came his way.

RB Leipzig will be disappointed across both legs, they didn't look their Bundesliga selves and paid the price for it!

Salah receives the ball on the right and cuts onto his left foot, opening up a gap to shoot through. His shot is deflected and goes out for a corner.

Origi crosses a low ball across to an unmarked Mane at the back of the post who taps into an open net. Looks like game over now for Leipzig

Ball played through to Jota by Mane who slots the ball across to Salah. The winger cuts onto his left foot and drills low to Gulascis right opening up the scoring for the reds

Salah opens up the scoring for Liverpool!

Hwang chips a cross across to Sorloth who heads the ball onto the bar. The ball lands at the feet of Olmo on the edge of the box and he shoots just over. Warning signs for Liverpool

Kluivert who's looked sharp since coming on whips a ball across the box and is cleared well by Fabinho. Leipzig ramping up the attacking now!

Jota is one-on-one and shoots at Gulacsi. The rebound falls to Salah on the bounce and the Egyptian lifts over an open goal.

Jota is thread through and looks to pull a ball back to four Liverpool players who all miss the ball

Leipzig have been predictable in the first 5 minutes of the second half. Trying to play the ball over the top but easily read by Liverpool's back line

The half ends goalless as both teams had golden opportunities to go ahead. Liverpool have controlled the majority of the game but like the first leg they are one over the top ball away from conceding. Leipzig look more comfortable on the ball but will need to stop giving away brilliant chances for Liverpool to score!

Salah presses Upamencano in front of his box and the ball falls to Jota who misses an open net and hits the side netting!

A direct run from Jota finds him with space on the edge of the box. He toe pokes the ball but it's right at the keeper and Leipzig clear.

Leipzig enduring a lengthy piece of possession now as they set Liverpool back

Another Leipzig chance! A ball over the top sets Olmo through who finds Forsberg. The Leipzig man drags his shot just wide of the post!

The ball falls on the edge of the box to Kampl who attempts to whip a shot into the net. Alisson stumbles across the goal but collects the ball calmly

Alexander-Arnold is set through on the right side. As the wingback runs towards goal he attempts a pullback and the ball is blocked. 

Another opportunity wasted by Liverpool!

A brilliant scissor kick from Thiago sets Salah through one-on-one with the keeper. Liverpool's winger shoots straight at the keeper and then Mane's follow up is headed into the ground. 

Liverpool should be 1-0 up. 

Adams crosses a ball in and Alisson comes to collect. The Brazilian keeper misjudges the cross a tips it luckily to Thiago who is there to clear in front of an open net.

Alexander-Arnold curls a ball in from the corner and finds Jota. The Portuguese's header is drilled towards goal but Gulacsi pulls off a brilliant save to tip it over the bar!

Play has stopped as Mane was clattered by Gulacsi as Alexander-Arnold whipped a freekick in. The player looked dazed but is now back on his feet

Leipzig's first real attack and first warning. Poulsen lays the ball back to Olmo in the box whose snapshot strike is instinctively saved by Alisson

Leipzig struggle to get out of their half as Liverpool dominate with their high press, similar to what we saw in the first leg.

Mane chipped through by Wijnaldum and blazes a shot over the bar. Linesman raises his flag however, and Mane is offside. 

Thiago is set through on goal and instead of shooting looks to set Salah. The ball is intercepted and dealt with by Leipzig

Jota starts well as his pace is utilised and forces Gulacsi to clear out for a throw

Out come the teams, Liverpool sporting their usual red and Leipzig in white!

Compared to the first leg, RB Leipzig have a out-and-out striker in Yusuff Poulsen tonight! 

He could cause all sorts of problems for Liverpool's inexperienced defenders tonight as they were not faced with him first time around!

The first goal tonight will be vital for either team. If Liverpool get it then the game will look to be out of Leipzig's hands.

However, if Leipzig get the first goal then we could see Liverpool's heads drop once again and panic may set in.

Very important both teams start strong!

Tonight is Liverpool's eighth different centre back pairing in their eight Champions League games this season. Crazy!

Forsberg and Sabitzer are the only two changes from the team which beat Freiberg 3-0 away!

5 changes from the side that lost to Fulham. Fabinho comes into midfield as Kabak partners with Philips and Alexander-Arnold returns to the back. Jota starts with Mane and Salah either side of him!

Firmino misses the game with an injury.

Despite both matches being played at the Puskas Arena, away goals still count!

Liverpool have a 2-0 away win and are playing at home tonight. 

Leipzig need a 2-0 win tonight to send it to extra time but if they get three or more then Liverpool will need to score two or more extra goals because of the away goal rule!

RB Leipzig on the other hand have had quite the turnaround since a calamitous 2-0 loss to Liverpool. Juilan Naglesmann's side has won all three of the games following the Champions League defeat.

They remain two points off the top of the Bundesliga and one game that shone out was their 3-2 win against Borussia Monchengladbach in which they overcame a 2-0 deficit in the second half. Similar to what Naglesmann will be aiming to do against Liverpool tonight.

Jurgen Klopp's men have had a dire run of form since winning the first leg 2-0. They have endured their worst home performance in the club's history losing six on the bounce at Anfield. 

In their past four games in the Premier League they have only won one match beating bottom of the table Sheffield United 2-0. 

They lost the other three to Fulham, Chelsea and Everton conceding four and scoring none.
