Full-time: Manchester City 2-1 Borussia Dortmund!

What a game of football!

Marco Reus' late leveller looked to have been enough for Dortmund to nick a draw in Manchester, but Phil Foden had other ideas.

The Manchester City youngster fired home from close range to give Pep's men a slender advantage heading to Dortmund next week.

It's finely poised.

You feel neither side will be fully content with the scoreline as it stands.

Dortmund will be eager to find that elusive away goal, whilst Manchester City will be hoping to open up a bigger cushion ahead of their trip to Germany next Wednesday.

And now it's Phil Foden's turn to go close, as he is played in by De Bruyne.

Again the English forward is denied.

The teams are heading back out for the second half.

Will City kick on? Or will Dortmund find a way back into this one.

Only time will tell.

Half-time: Manchester City 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City lead at half-time, but should Dortmund be level?

Kevin De Bruyne gave the hosts the lead after 20 minutes as he finished off a sweeping City move, before City were denied the chance to add a second from the spot as VAR intervened.

The talking point came shortly after the half hour mark as Jude Bellingham stole the ball of Ederson to race home and level, only for the Brazilian's blushes to be spared by the referee's whistle.

Plenty more to come in the second 45!

20:4111 days ago

36' - Bellingham denied

Now this is controversial!

Jude Bellingham catches Ederson napping on the edge of his box, nicks the ball away before firing home into an open goal.

It won't count though, there's a whistle for a foul on the Brazilian keeper.

And it looks harsh!

20:3211 days ago

31' - NO PENALTY

Correct decision from the referee.

That was never a penalty.

30' - VAR Check

Penalty to Manchester City!

Dortmund will feel aggrieved by that opener, having given as good as they got in the opening exchanges.

That's the danger with this Manchester City side though, they can create a goal out of nothing!

18' - GOAL MANCHESTER CITY

Kevin De Bruyne gives Manchester City the lead! The Belgian began the attack on the halfway line, advancing upfield before playing Phil Foden in down the left. The chance looked to have gone as the Englishman's cross evaded those waiting inside the six yard box before finiding Riyad Mahrez down the right. The Algerian held the ball up superbly before finding the late run of KDB to tap home from close range. Advantage City.

11' - City settling

City are finding their feet now, a couple of corners come to nothing but this is better from Pep's side.

The first chance of the night falls the way of Borussia Dortmund.

English teenage sensation Jude Bellingham fires a low effort towards goal but Ederson is on hand to get down and turn the ball away from danger.

Early warning signs for City.

It's been an even start at the Etihad.

Manchester City are enjoying more of the possession but Dortmund don't look scared to throw men forward on the counter attack either.

Haaland's dress rehearsal

There's one man in the spotlight for BVB tonight, and his name is Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian is expected to leave Dortmund in the summer, with Manchester City the bookmakers favourite to sign him.

He's got the perfect opportunity to show Pep & co what he's got tonight, and who'd back against him shining?

18:5311 days ago

Foden's time to shine

All the talk this week has been of a former Manchester City academy star in Jadon Sancho, but it is another youth star who has the chance to shine tonight.

Phil Foden will form part of an ever interchanging City front three this evening, will he be showing Sancho what could've been if he'd stayed at the Etihad?

Pep full of respect for tonight's opposition

Pep Guardiola's side are the overwhelming favourites for tonight's clash, but despite that, Pep is well aware of the damage the German's can cause:

“I have incredible respect for what Dortmund has done,” he said.

“I was in Germany three years and always they were a big opponent. I know the quality - not just Erling Haaland but Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, Mahmoud Dahoud and Mats Hummels.

“I saw their game the morning before our game and I was really impressed with the quality. When they can run, they kill you. We will try to be aggressive.

“Maybe they have not found the consistency in the Bundesliga this season, but in one game or two games, they are able to do anything.”

Team News: Borussia Dortmund

The big team news as far as BVB are concerned is the omission of former Manchester City man, Jadon Sancho.

The CFA graduate will miss his Manchester City homecoming with a thigh injury.

Dan-Axel Zagadou and Axel Witsel are also out for the visitors.

Team News: Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has no fresh injury concerns ahead of this one, with a star studded squad to pick from.

The form of the likes of Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho will have given the Spaniard a selection headache, though it is a positive issue to have!

Previous Meetings

These two have met twice in their history, with Manchester City yet to register a victory over their German counterparts.

They met in the 20212/13 group stage, with Dortmund registering a 1-0 victory at home, whilst an inspired Joe Hart earned the Citizens a 1-1 draw at the Etihad.

They will be hoping to change that tonight!

Goals Galore

Bayern Munich vs PSG is many pundits choice for the tie of the round, however we can't look past this one!

These are two sides who both love to attack, but in two very different styles.

Manchester City in their traditional Pep-esque way, whilst Dortmund will be going all guns blazing on that counter attack.

It is set up to be a belter!
