Year in and year out, one of the main priorities for Tottenham Hotspur is to properly develop the youth academy and try to give some players opportunities with the first team.

One of the academy players who perhaps deserves more recognition is the 19 year-old striker Kion Etete, who has proved to be a hidden gem in Hotspur Way.

The Derby native has made a name for himself in the Premier League 2, recording eight goals and two assists in 18 games played.

Life in London has been good for Etete, considering he came through the youth team at Notts County, and in 2019 he joined Tottenham Hotspur after a successful trial at the club.

Competition

The competition for the striker position at Tottenham is almost impossible, considering starting Harry Kane is leading the Premier League in goals and assists this season.

Aside from Kane, Carlos Vinicius and Dane Scarlett seem to be ahead of Etete in Jose Mourinho's pecking order.

Another possibility for the 19 year-old next season could be to go on loan to a Championship / Ligue 1 side, which is a viable option for Spurs.

Opportunity

The chance is still there for Etete though, considering Jose Mourinho has been known for giving opportunity to young players at North London.

Since his arrival to Spurs in 2019, the Portuguese manager has provided debut opportunities for multiple academy players, including Japhet Tanganga, Malachi Walcott, Troy Parrott, Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine, Alfie Whiteman, Harvey White, Jack Clarke, Marcel Lavinier and Nile John
