Hasenhuttl aiming to make history

He said: "We know that we can write history for this club, we know that it is something we are working hard for.

"We beat the cup holders, we went through four rounds to come here and now we are two wins from winning a big trophy, so this is definitely something we were focusing on in the second half of the season, and that's the reason why we go with all the self-confidence we can build up in this game."

Rodgers hopeful of success

He said: "The magnitude of the game is clear. You don’t need to shine a torch on it anymore. Ability to have self-control is important, especially when you are under pressure.

"We want to arrive in the final but we can only do that by performing well. If you get too nervous, it can immobilise you. You don’t overdo the week, you give clarity to the team. We can control what we do and if we can play to a high level, we will have a good chance.”

Ralph Hasenhuttl's side will now aim to win the FA Cup and bring some joy to a somewhat disappointing campaign. A place in the final may also help the Saints boss to keep his job.
