The full time whistle is blown as Leicester open up a little bit of daylight from those under them in the table.

In what could be a pivitol night for both clubs, the Foxes were in control throughout which may be rather surprising considering the form that West Brom was showing.

First half goals from Vardy, Evans and Iheanacho did the job early on and while West Brom responded better in the second half with a different formation, it was still comfortable for the home side as they saw the game through professionally.

90' Leicester play it brilliantly once again and Perez will feel slightly let down as his low cross into a dangerous position was not challenged by a blue shirt.

85' Leicester break forward in numbers but Iheanacho chooses to shoot as opposed to play Thomas through and the ball is deflected out for a corner which ultimately comes to nothing.

83' A West Brom corner finds its target as the ball connects with the head of Ajayi but the defender couldn't direct his header on target as it sails over.

Vardy is taken off for the last few minutes as Praet comes on to strengthen the midfield area.

80' Iheanacho bends the ball around the wall but it is at a good height for Johnstone to save comfortably.

78' Bartley is booked for dragging Perez back just outside the box as Leicester get a freekick in a dangerous position.

77' The Baggies have been pressing a bit higher in the past few minutes as they look to finish the match strongly but that invites Leicester to break which is exactly what they do and had Vardy's cutback found its target, it would have been game over.

71' Maddison's night is over as he is replaced by Perez, while Pereira taken off for Grant. These changes came in the break of play after Vardy picks up the ball just inside the West Brom half and shoots on sight. It didn't go in but it was worth the try.

59' West Brom cause a little chaos in the box as they cross the ball in from a freekick.

Schmeichel is fouled as he tries to punch clear but the resulting shot is actually blocked by a West Brom man.

During the break of play, Fofana has come off to be replaced by Albrighton while Robson-Kanu comes on for Diagne.

56' Yokuslu is the first player to be booked as he takes out the onrushing Castagne.

52' Leicester carve through the West Brom defence through Maddison and Iheanacho but the latter's shot is blocked by O'Shea.

We are back underway as West Brom make a change.

Ajayi comes on in place of Robinson as the visitors switch to a back three.

It was a first half to forget for West Brom who need to show more fight if they are to stave off relegation. Can they bounce back in the second half?

The half time whistle sounds on what could not have been a more dominent half for the side in blue.

West Brom have been passive all half and have been made to pay for their apparent lack of desire as goals from Vardy, Evans and Iheanacho put Leicester in complete control.

A HUGE second half is needed for the away side if they are to get anything from the game as all Leicester need to do is stay professional and the points are theirs.

45' West Brom are gifted their first shot on target after a sloppy ball from Fofana.

Philips gets the ball on the edge of the box and fires off a venomous shot but could only find the palms of Schmeichel who is finally called into action.

42' It should have been four!

Leicester work it from right to left back to right again with a string of brilliant diagonal balls. Castagne nods it down to Iheanacho who brings the ball down expertly but could not finish the job on his weaker right foot as he fires over the bar.

This Leicester team looks full on confidence and are looking to extend their lead even further!

39' West Brom had plenty of players forward as they look to get a goal back before half time but Maitland-Niles gets his shot all wrong as it curls away from goal and very safely wide from a Leicester point of view.

35' THE GOAL MACHINE RAGES ON!

Fresh from having their crossbar clipped, Leicester break forward through Vardy who calmly nutmegs the defender and cuts it back to Iheanacho.

With the form that the Nigerian is in, there was only one place the ball was going to end up as it nestles into the top of the net.

33' Maddison and Castagne are running riot here and are just constantly being awarded all the space they need.

The two link up once again and Maddison stings the palms of Johnstone with a powerful left-footed shot but it is amazing how West Brom are just letting them do this time and time again.

28' It could have been three!

Maddison finds Castagne who broke clear without a single red and yellow shirt near him but comes agonisingly close to score his second goal of the season against the Baggies had it not been for the foot of the post.

The Foxes then break again but Vardy's shot lacked the power and trickles into the arms of the keeper.

25'  EVANS BAGS AGAINST HIS FORMER SIDE!

Tielemans swings in a corner which is flicked on by a West Brom head and Evans is there to run onto the ball and smash the header home!

Two goals in quick succession puts the home side in the driving seat.

22' VARDY IS BACK!

A fantastic ball from Tielemans cuts through the defence and plays through Castagne. The fullback unselfishly tees up Vardy who dinks the ball over Johnstone to end his drought!

18' A brilliant diagonal ball finds Iheanacho and the forward does brilliantly to get to the byline via a nutmeg but Johnstone blocks his cut back to concede a corner that ultimately comes to nothing.

Iheanacho looking full of confidence and rightly so.

8' West Brom gift Vardy the ball and the Foxes break.

The number nine sends Maddison wider than he would have liked and the cross is blocked but comes off Maddison for the goal kick.

Leicester have found themselves in promising positions but need to be more potent.

3' It's West Brom's turn to attack and they work the ball well only for Fofana to put Diagne off who misses his kick.

2' What a chance for Iheanacho!

The striker pounces on a defensive error and runs clear through. Johnstone does well to force him wide and blocks the shot.

We're underway!

Both teams emerge from the tunnel with kick off imminent.

Kick off is now within ten minutes.

Back in the starting lineup tonight but how much of a say in the match will Maddison have?

Two teams, both in great spirits, come into the game with the belief that they can come away with three points to either strengthen a top four place or to take another step in potentially completing the great escape. This is what football is all about.

In this fight, the two attacking midfielders in James Maddison and Matheus Pereira could be key in unlocking the defences to propel their respective sides to victory.

It is likely that Leicester will control the possession, but that will suit the Baggies as they have shown recently just how potent they can be on the counter attack, something that the Foxes' three at the back must be aware of.

Both sides have the personel to create plenty of chances and this fixture has the potential to be a high scoring tie.

Sam Allardyce was critical of the Super League in his pre-match press conference and praised the effect that fans had on the proposal.

"What we’ve seen from the fans, the public, and the remaining 14 clubs in the Premier League, and all those who support football, have come out against it, it’s shocked everyone, particularly in this country.

“There are lessons to be learned for the governing bodies who run our game and, unless we learn those lessons quickly and protect better the structure of our game, we’re likely to see this again and again."

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers refused to play down his opponents ahead of the match despite them occupying a position in the relegation zone.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he stated: “It will be a very dangerous game for us. He will have been happy with the business. They showed against Chelsea and Southampton they are dangerous. Defensively they are strong. They have dynamic players. It’s the beauty of this league. Teams at the bottom are fighting for different reasons.”

West Brom have received a boost ahead of the match as both Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Kyle Bartley have returned to fitness from respective ankle and calf injuries.

Leicester have no new teams news to report as Ricardo Pereira is expected to shake off a minor calf issue to be fit for the match.

Havey Barnes, James Justin and Wes Morgan all remain unavailable due to their respective injuries.  

The sides last met on the opening day of the season and Leicester came out comfortable victors.

Timothy Castagne opened the scoring with a powerful header to mark his debut with a goal, before Jamie Vardy scored a brace of penalties to continue his goal scoring record at the Hawthorns, cupping his ears at the empty seats.

Amidst all of the talk of the soul being ripped out of football, these two clubs have the chance of reminding everyone just how good the league can be.

Neither club were invited to the Super League but both clubs have shown that they have the ability to wow the 16-24 year olds who are allegedly not interested in football anymore.

As well as fighting for a top four place, Leicester have just made it to their first FA Cup final for 52 years after they defeated Southampton , while relegation threatened come into the game off of two impressive results, a 3-0 win over Southampton that followed a 5-2 victory over Super League "founder" Chelsea.

The game is shaping up to be a competitive encounter and one that has the potential to show all of the "elite" clubs that it isn't just them who can put on a good show.

It is very refreshing being able to write about a Premier League game in the knowledge that the Super League is dead and buried.

Due to this, the importance of the game between Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion has increased in the past 24 hours as the Foxes' fight for Champions League has become meaningful once again.

The narrative that was never in question is the Baggies' fight for survival and whether or not they can pull of the Sam Alardyce special.
