FINAL-TIME: West Ham 0-1 Chelsea FC

And it's over. Great game from Chelsea, the complete opposite from West Ham.

Timo Werner with the only goal of the game after a well-worked attack in the 43rd minute.

Chelsea had enough chances to make their lead bigger but the goalscorer himself, Mason Mount and late substitute Tammy Abraham had all failed to beat Łukasz Fabiański.

And that makes the "TOP 8" situation even more interesting.

West Ham red card

Fabian Balbuena is sent off for dangerous play after his stomping on Mason Mount following a clearance.

Not sure about that one, Chris Cavanagh.
18:5621 days ago
69' Double substitution from David Moyes.

Said Benrahma and Manuel Lanzini on for Mark Noble and Pablo Fornals.
18:5521 days ago
67' Another chance for Chelsea, another save by Fabiański.

This time it was Werner who was seeking his second goal of the game.
18:5221 days ago
63' Another good hit from Mount but Fabiański equal yet again.
18:5021 days ago
61' Oh my god, Lingard.

The Englishman tried scoring from the edge of the box on a half-volley and the ball just missed Edouard Mendy's goal.

That could've been special.
18:4521 days ago
56' Good chance for West Ham and Pablo Fornals got their first shot on target.

A bit late, but we finally got there.
18:4321 days ago
55' How is that not 0-2??

A fantastic strike from Mount was saved by Fabiański and from the rebound, Werner missed an open net!

46' And we're back underway!

After having to battle off comebacks in recent weeks, can West Ham complete one of their own?

HALF-TIME:West Ham 0-1 Chelsea FC

45 minutes gone, Chelsea lead with a very narrow lead after Timo Werner's late finish.

West Ham look very much toothless as they are yet to have a shot on target, with their only effort being a blocked Tomas Soucek effort.

For the second half, David Moyes will definitely require something else from his players.

GOAL: West Ham 0-1 Chelsea FC

And we have an opening!

Great play from Timo Werner to hold the ball and tease the ball into Ben Chilwell who cut the ball back into Werner for a simple tap-in.

Can West Ham get back into the game?
18:1321 days ago
41' Another yellow card, this time for Andreas Christensen for pulling Lingard back on a counter-attack.
18:1021 days ago
37' Yes, they can!

Great ball from Lingard, the ball found its way into Tomas Soucek but his shot was blocked on the line by Cesar Azpilicueta!

There was a penalty shout for a handball, but the VAR check shown the Spaniard blocking the shot with his chest, not his arm.
18:0821 days ago
36' Yellow card for Werner for a late challenge on Lingard.

Can the Hammers create something from this free-kick?
18:0221 days ago
31' Mount linking up with Werner again, but the latter couldn't steer his shot on target.
18:0021 days ago
30' Half an hour gone and it's still goalless. So far a good showing from both defences.
17:4721 days ago
15' A very good start for both teams.

Ryan Fredericks looked to break but his cross was inaccurate shortly before Christian Pulisic shot straight at Fabiański.
17:4121 days ago
10' Mason Mount with the games' first shot on target but Łukasz Fabiański caught the shot easily.
17:4021 days ago
9' West Ham looked to counter, but Jarrod Bowen took too long to pass and found Jesse Lingard in an offside position.
17:3421 days ago
4' We have a first shot of the game but Timo Werner put his effort over the bar.

Player to watch

Having missed out on a starting XI place in recent weeks, Said Benrahma will be looking to prove his worth to David Moyes as he is set to start this evening.

Since his move from Brentford FC in October 2020, the Algerian has so far accumulated zero goals and four assists in about 1100 minutes in the Premier League but despite his seemingly low output, his shot and chance creation statistics are one of the best in West Ham's squad this season.

Previous encounters

The head-to-head record looks fairly equal as in the last five meetings between the teams there were two Hammers' wins, two the Blues' wins and a draw.

In their latest meeting, on the 21st December 2020, Chelsea have comfortably dispatched their opposition thanks to a goal from Thiago Silva and a Tammy Abraham brace.

Current form

The hosts, who are yet to lose two games in a row in all competitions this season, are coming into the game off a narrow 3-2 loss to Premier League's relegation candidates, Newcastle United.

The visitors, in their latest Premier League match, have drawn 0-0 again high-performing Brighton and Hove Albion.
