Norwich City 2-0 Huddersfield Town: As it happened
Getty Images, Stephen Pond: Norwich, last season, won the SkyBet Championship, but how will they fare today?

Post-match analysis:

Huddersfield weren't clinical enough, despite playing very well, and should have equalised at many points. Norwich didn't play amazingly, despite the result, but this win will give the club much-needed momentum in what looks like it will be a tough campaign. Terriers fans can be happy with what they saw today.

Full Time: Norwich given stern test, but manage to win 2-0

The hosts, Norwich, escaped from lots of good Huddersfield pressure to score two goals. Perhaps a win against the run of play, but Norwich won't care too much. They are confident and hungry now for the Premier League. The East-Anglian club have now won 3 of their 3 pre-season friendlies, with Adam Idah doubling Teemu Pukki's lead in the second half to take all of the points.

GOAL! Idah doubles the scoreline for Norwich

Norwich lead 2-0 now. Maybe slightly against the run of play, but they don't care. Adam Idah sees a floating ball come to him inside the box, chests it down and volleys the ball into the bottom-right-centre of the net. Great finish. Norwich look to be taking the three points here. Min.86'

Norwich have their first big chance of the second half

A lucid, fluid counter from Norwich, the first bit of PL quality we've seen from them. Hernandez places it through to Adam Idah, who is through on the right-hand side of goal, and taps it to the left of the keeper. It seems like a pass to Hugill at the back post. Matty Pearson defends well and clears it. Good work from The Canaries. Min.83'

Town still on the front foot

They're still going. Hogg is winning every ball in the midfield. Lewis O'Brien is spraying passes left, right, and centre. Toffolo is springing down the left-wing. But still, nothing to show for it. Will the visitors find a goal. It's getting late in the game now... Min.78'

Substitution: Josh Koroma comes off for Brahima Diarra

A midfield change for Huddersfield. Koroma has played well, but he has looked quite leggy of late. Comes off for young Frenchman Diallo. Min.71'
14:582 months ago

Toffolo almost equalises

Big opportunity, once again, for The Terriers to draw level, but, once again, are not clinical enough. Harry Toffolo takes the ball down the left-hand side into a position where he can fire the ball at goal, but his shot is dragged past the far post. When will Town score? It looks like the equaliser is coming. Min.63'

Norwich are not threatening at all

The Canaries are not playing well. Struggling to pass. Struggling to keep possession. Struggling to create any real chances. Huddersfield should be ahead, realistically. Poor football from the hosts, and absolutely not sustainable enough for the Premier League. Although, still 1-0 up. Min.59'
14:492 months ago

Koroma fluffs his lines

Poor passing from Norwich defenders inside their own box allows Hogg to intercept and give it to Josh Koroma, who is standing in a great position by the far post. However, with a chance that should have made the score 1-1, Koroma passes it wide of the post unthreateningly. But, still, all Huddersfield. Min.54'

Another excellent chance for Huddersfield

Some great passing through the middle of the pitch gives the ball to Danny Ward. He plays a stunning through ball to Scott High, who tries to square his defender – he manages to switch feet smartly and takes a leaning shot on the left side of the six-yard-box and it flies slightly wide past the top-right corner. Great inter play. All Huddersfield. Min.53'

Huddersfield make an amazing chance, slightly wide

Harry Toffolo beats two men on the left-hand side of the Norwich box and fizzes in a low cross to the back post. If a Huddersfield Town player is there, it would be 1-1, but  Zimmermann controls the ball well and clears. Min.48'
14:382 months ago

Second Half Commences

Norwich get the half underway and immediately there is good pressure from the visitors. Huddersfield players have today been quite unhappy with referee decisions, seemingly, and he blows once again for a foul.
14:352 months ago

It has been a tight game so far

Only a goal seperates the two sides at the break. And although The Canaries are on top, Huddersfield look slightly more dangerous than Norwich. Not sure the East-Anglian side have shown an infinite amount of PL quality;  Town have matched their hosts today.

Half Time – Norwich: 1-0 : Huddersfield

The first half ends. Norwich City are in front from a Teemu Pukki goal, however, the scoreline doesn't tell the full story and Huddersfield Town are very much still in this. Players that have been impressive are Scott High, Levi Colwill, and Teemu Pukki.
14:172 months ago

Huddersfield have a great chance

Huddersfield playing well, as half-time approaches. Ollie Turton does well to slip it through on the right-hand side to Scott High. High makes a wonderful cross to Holmes at the back post of the other side of the box, who struggles to control the ball well, and the ball travels over the bar. Encouraging football from Scott High and The Terriers.
14:112 months ago

Rashica, star signing for Norwich, is playing quietly

It still remains 1-0, but new star-signing Milot Rashica, from Werder Bremen, isn't really showing his worth. Struggling to find himself on the ball often, and when he has, hasn't found a way to impact the game specifically.  Min.37'
14:052 months ago

Levi Colwill playing well

Huddersfield are on the ball a lot more now, and are becoming physically dominant, too. Pressing Norwich into tough areas. Levi Colwill, the 18-year-old, is playing really well, and Norwich can't take the ball off him, so foul him. Bright, young player. Min.31
14:002 months ago

Huddersfield counter well, a big chance, but it leads to nothing

Scott High wins the ball off Omobamodele, and sprints well up the pitch, playing a great ball to Danny Ward, who tries to flick it to Koroma and Norwich defend well. Great football from High. Min.27.
13:542 months ago

Huddersfield trying to find a way back in this

Duane Holmes sends a fizzing cross into the box. No Huddersfield players are there, but Norwich defenders can't control it and send it out for a corner. The corner finds the head of Colwill – unthreatening and over the bar, but Town are still in this.
13:472 months ago

GOAL! Pukki opens the scoring for Norwich

Huddersfield lose possesion after a free kick, and Norwich are allowed to counter. Cantwell does really well to slide it over to Rupp. The German then plays it through the box and Pukki finds the ball and dinks it into the bottom right corner. Clinical finish. Norwich really showing their Premier League quality then. Poor from The Terriers. Norwich:1-0: Huddersfield, Min. 13
13:432 months ago

Norwich starting to apply some pressure

Norwich pressing well now and putting Hogg under pressure. The ball finds Placheta who skies it high over the bar, but they are bringing themselves into the game.
13:382 months ago

Norwich find a good chance flying just wide

Some good work on the left hand side from The Canaries, which finds Lees-Melou on the edge of the box. He tries to bend one into the top-right corner but a deflection sends it for a corner.
13:352 months ago

Good start for Huddersfield

Some good pressure in the first couple of minutes from The Terriers. Comfortable passing. Norwich struggling to keep hold of the ball. As a result of some great pressing from Town, Koroma finds a header and it rises slightly above the bar, out for a corner.

Danny Ward gets the game underway at Norwich City's training ground. Referee is Gavin Ward. New kits on show. Should be a great game!

How do Huddersfield seem, going into next season?

It will be another tricky season, seemingly, for The Terriers, but some of their new signings look quite ready for the physically tough Championship. A few more defensive signings might be what they need, but going forward, the Yorkshire side are secure. They have what it takes to avoid the drop, definitely.

Head-to-head fact

Norwich have won 3 of their last 6 outings against Huddersfield. (W3,D1,L2). It seems that it might be a tight affair, based on quality of lineups, but only time will tell.

30 Mins until kick off – predictions?

I'm going for 3-1 Norwich, with Rashica to bag a brace and for Pukki to tuck away a penalty. Reckon Huddersfield will nick one back in added time but it will only be a consolidation. Let me know your prediction in the comments!

Can the hosts survive the Premier League this time around?

Often dubbed a "yo-yo" club, due to their relentless relegation and promotion routine, Norwich are familiar with the PL relegation zone. This time around, however, they seem more prepared transfer-wise than in 2019/20, and I reckon they have what it takes to beat the drop.

Huddersfield Town key player

Named  player of the season last campaign, Jonathan Hogg is a cog in the Carlos Corberan's Huddersfield machine. The midfielder can run for days and his technical ability cannot be overestimated, and despite being 32-years-old, he seems to be in the prime of his career.
12:112 months ago

Norwich City key player

Teemu Pukki is Norwich's key player; the striker is lethal in front of goal, fast on the counter-attack, yet still a dominant physical presence. He's certainly one to look out for, if he plays.
