Danny Ings has recently been linked to West Ham. The Hammers are looking to bring him to the London Stadium. “West Ham are monitoring Danny Ings’ situation at Southampton, especially as he has said he wants to play in a European competition next season.”(ExWHUemployee)

Contract situation.

Ings has just one year left on his contract at Southampton and is not likely to sign a new deal with the club. Meaning a deal is highly likely and shouldn’t be too much of an issue. West Ham are looking to buy a striker, with their worrying lack of, with Michail Antonio being the only senior striker at the club. Ings would be a good fit, and provides competition for in-form Antonio.

The Southampton man scored 12 goals and 4 assist in 29 league games last season. With bagging 22 goals in 38 the season before, Danny Ings is a consistent striker when on top form, which we can see from his impressive stats. Many criticise his injury record, with him missing some games due to long term injury’s which have stunted his progression in some seasons.

The Saints are looking to sell Ings next season, with a reported fee of £25 million being put on the table, according to The Mirror. Ings is a name which has been linked with West Ham for numerous years. With him being a Premier League proven striker, many clubs will be interested in snapping him up. Danny has confirmed that he wants to play in Europe next season, with West Ham competing in the UEFA Europa League, it could be a huge factor in him joining The Hammers.

Analysis.

He’s a wonderful striker to watch, with bags of finishing ability and poacher like positioning, he’s a real handful for opposing defenders. He works hard every game which David Moyes loves in a player. In my opinion, him playing as a striker will bag us a substantial more amount of goals than we normally do, with Ings being a well-known goal scorer. The former Liverpool man has been playing in the premier league for years, all be it with unlucky injuries and being dropped from starting lineups, Ings has become a regular starter for The Saints and we can see why. Whether David Moyes decides to bring him to the London Stadium, is a mystery. But what we do know is that West Ham need to bring in a striker to provide competition for Michail Antonio.
