As it happened Arsenal vs Chelsea (1-2)

A great opening game in the mind series as Mike Arteta's side taste defeat against their London rivals Chelsea. Arsenal fans will be let frustrated after Joe Willock's effort crossed the line and the referee didn't award the goal. However, as pre season draws to a close, Arteta's side can look forward to one final game against north London Rivals Tottenham before the opening game of the season vs Brentford. 

Fulltime! Chelsea take the victory in the capital after a very entertaining 90 minutes. 

Three minutes of additional time added as Aubameyang goes through and sees his shot saved by Kepa. 

The game has opened up with both sides having chances. On a replay of Willock's effort, The ball appears to have crossed the line. Massive frustration for the Arsenal fans. 

Wilock shoots and the ball hits the crossbar and at first glance looks over the line but the referee says the ball didn't cross the line. 

Tavares plays a delightful cross into the box but Aubameyang heads wide. 

Goal! Bellerin plays a poor pass that Abraham pounces on and gives Chelsea the lead  once again.

Arsenal ready substitutes. Nketiah, Willock, Lokonga, Tavares, Bellerin and Kolasinac enter.

Goal! Arsenal equalise through Granit Xhaka who heads home Pepe's corner.

Smith-Rowe drives into the final third and slips in Pepe who is tacked and wins a corner. The corner finds Xhaka who heads over. 

Arsenal win a free kick in a dangerous position outside the box in a central area. Lacazette strikes well and draws the save from Mendy which wins a corner. 

Ziyech chips the ball over Leno and goes through to tap the ball into an empty net but takes too long and Arsenal get players back to block the shot. 

Nico Pepe shoots narrowly wide after a brilliant through ball from Alex Lacazette.

Second half underway! 

Sarr, Abraham, Zappacosta and Drinkwater have also entered the field. 

Ben White replaces Rob Holding. 

The teams re-emerge from their respective dressing rooms ready for the second half! Ben White is onto the pitch for the second half. 

Half time. The Blues go into the break with the advantage. 

Hudson-Odoi eases past Pablo Mari and his shot is saved by Bernd Leno. 

There will be two minutes of additional time. 

Tierney is back on his feet and will continue. 

Kieran Tierney is now down in some considerable pain. After Zouma came through the back of the scot.

Hakim Ziyech hits the post with a low driven shot inside the box. Arsenal clear.

Xhaka makes an immediate impact and plays a beautiful through ball with the outside of his left foot to find Aubameyang who's cross is gathered by Mendy. 

Arsenal Substitution, Granit Xhaka will replace Thomas Partey who walks off. Arsenal fans will hope it is nothing serious. 

Hudson Adoi beats two players but his shot goes wide of the target. 

Partey is back on his feet and will continue. 

Thomas Partey is down receiving treatment for an injury. Arsenal's new number five goes down holding his ankle. 

Shouts for a penalty as Smith-
Rowe's shot hits the post and then Partey is tripped in the box. Waved away.

Chelsea chance! Timo Werner goes through on goal and toe pokes the ball wide. 

Goal! Chelsea draw first blood as Kai Havertz strikes home to finish off a counter attack. Poor defending from Arsenal who were caught 2v1

Arsenal knocking the ball around with confidence, looking very sharp and causing problems for Chelsea. 

Arsenal winning the ball high up the pitch. Looking sharp and creating some chances. Nothing on target yet. 

Thomas Partey is enjoying some space and time in the middle of the park early on. Finds Aubameyang in space on the left hand side who plays a back heel to Kieran Tierney who's cross flashes across the face of goal. 

Chelsea have an early chance as Ruben Loftus-Cheek strikes outside the box which Is blocked.

Arsenal looking to press the Chelsea Back 5 from early on. Brilliant atmosphere at the Emirates with some songs ringing round the ground.

Alex Lacazette gets Arsenal underway after taking the knee and displaying a strong message that there is no room for racism. 

Both teams walk out to a roar at the Emirates, a brilliant sight!

Arsenal take on Chelsea at Emirates Stadium in the first game of the mind series.

In Chelsea's previous pre season friendly, Tutchel's side traveled to the Vitality Stadium and beat Bournemouth 2-1

Arsenal have picked up in recent pre season performances. After a disappointing loss to Hibbs and then a draw with Rangers, They eased past both Watford and Millwall 4-1  

This game will be played in north London in Arsenal's Emirates Stadium 

Mendy, Chalobah, Zouma, Rudiger, Hudson-Odoi, Loftus-Cheek, Kovacic, Pulisic, Ziyech, Havertz, Werner 

Leno, Chambers, Holding, Mari, Tierney, Elneny, Partey, Smith-Rowe, Pepe, Aubameyang, Lacazette.

Emile Smith-Rowe has been a key man for Arsenal this pre season, with his driving runs causing defences all kinds of problems. Smith-Rowe will be pivotal in linking midfield to attack and creating chances for the strikers. 

Kai Havertz is one of the key men for Chelsea after he finished the previous campaign on red hot form. Scoring in the Champions League final to win the Trophy topped off a brilliant debut season in the Premier League. 

The last time these two sides met, was in a 1-0 victory to Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Emile Smith-Rowe scored the only goal of the game on that day after a dreadful mistake in the Chelsea backline.
