FT: Newcastle 2-2 Southampton

All over here at St James' Park and although Allan Saint-Maximin thought he'd won Newcastle the game with his 91st minute goal, VAR awarded Southampton a penalty in the 95th minute, which James Ward-Prowse converted with distinction.

Steve Bruce's side were booed off at half-time, they were booed off at full-time too.

Honours even here.

Newcastle vs Southampton Prediction

Despite Southampton's extremely positive result at the weekend against Manchester United, I think the home crowd – buoyed by the influence of Allan Saint-Maximin in particular – will rally Newcastle to their first victory of the season.

Similar to the previous meeting between these two, I do expect plenty of goals tomorrow afternoon.

Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Southampton

Previous meeting between Newcastle and Southampton

The last time Newcastle and Southampton played against each other was in February this year, where The Magpies – with nine-men in the end – defeated The Saints 3-2 in a thrilling game at St James' Park.

Key player of Southampton

There is no doubt that the man to keep your eye on tomorrow for Southampton is new striker Adam Armstrong, a man who will be desperate to score against Steve Bruce's side tomorrow for multiple reasons.

As well as wanting to add to his goal tally in a Saints shirt, Armstrong is a boyhood Newcastle fan who spent over 12 years at the club before departing for Blackburn in 2018.

It will be interesting to see whether Armstrong will rise to the occasion and score against his former club tomorrow afternoon...

Key player of Newcastle

The one-to-watch from a Newcastle point of view is star midfielder Joe Willock, who completed a permanent transfer to the club this month after a hugely successful loan spell last season.

Willock scored on his Toon debut against tomorrow's opponents Southampton, before going on to net in seven consecutive Premier League games, and will be eyeing up another goal against The Saints tomorrow.

Southampton looking to build on Manchester United result

After an opening day defeat to Everton, Southampton bounced back with a well-deserved 1-1 draw against Manchester United, and will be looking to bring momentum from that performance into their trip to Tyneside tomorrow.

Boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will be counting on his new striker Adam Armstrong to net against his former club Newcastle – a club he was at since the age of nine before leaving in 2018.

Newcastle looking to end their winless run

It's been a difficult start to the season for Steve Bruce and NewcastleThe Magpies have lost their first two games of the Premier League season, and to add insult to injury, crashed out of the Carabao Cup on penalties in midweek against Burnley.

The pressure will undoubtedly mount on Bruce if his side lose to Southampton tomorrow, with the international break now just around the corner...
