HOW?!?!?!?

First, Yarmolenko was standing in front of the goal but hit the post and a minute later Mark Noble could’ve finished the game but his shot was straight at Henderson.

This game is incredible I am stressed.

Areola is an absolute hero.

First, he saved Martial’s shot and then matched Greenwood’s cross.

If it wasn’t for West Ham’s French duo of Areola and Diop, the scoreline could’ve been much different.

21:23a month ago

78’

Bruno Fernandes’ strike was close, but still too far away to danger Areola’s goal.

We’re into the final 15 minutes.

Can the Hammers hold on?

21:18a month ago

Manchester United double substitution

Anthony Elanga and Bruno Fernandes have replaced Jesse Lingard and Alex Telles.

Lingard Derby = Over.

21:14a month ago

West Ham double substitution

Nikola Vlasić and Pablo Fornals are on for Manuel Lanzini and Arthur Masuaku.

Two very good performances of the night, let’s hope the two new boys replicate that, or even better.

21:09a month ago

64’

Lingard’s left-footed strike looked dangerous, but was easily gathered by Areola.
21:08a month ago

62’

Areola is sensational.

Mason Greenwood was through and his first touch of the ball was also his first shot, but the French goalkeeper saved it with his fantastic feet.

21:07a month ago

61’

Oh my word what a goal that would’ve been.

Perfect play from Bowen who teaser up Yarmolenko, and the Ukrainian’s long-range strike fizzed near Henderson’s left post.

21:05a month ago

59’

Fantastic press from Bowen who won the ball off van de Beek near Man United’s penalty box, ultimately winning a corner kick.

Nothing followed, unfortunately.

West Ham yellow card

And it’s there. Mark Noble’s yellow card.

Should be the first one to come off the pitch now.

20:56a month ago

51’

Great play from Juan Mata towards Sancho, but the Englishman’s shot went high and wide.
20:56a month ago

50’

Early signs of West Ham looking to counter-attack, but this time Arthur Masuaku was offside.

Early prediction: he’s scoring tonight.

20:53a month ago

47’

Early cross from Alex Telles was headed into the back of Anthony Martial, and went out for an Areola goal-kick.

46’

And we’re back.

I will not stop drinking beer because it’s as good as the game, so let’s hope it continues.

REMINDER: West Ham are winning after Manuel Lanzini’s goal.

Half-Time: Manchester United 0-1 West Ham United

Well, lovely start to the evening for me.

Manuel Lanzini’s strike inside the first 10 minutes separates the two sides at the break.

Back to drinking beer then.

46’

Great play from the hosts and Jadon Sancho was looking to tease in a cross, but Areola intercepted it very well.
20:32a month ago

45’

Lingard was looking to break after an unsuccessful West Ham corner, but Arthur Masuaku’s tackle was perfect.

Donny van de Beek. Shot. Stands.
20:23a month ago

36’

Another shot on goal by Anthony Martial, but it was another shot that ended up off-target.

So far a very lively game, and it shouldn’t stop anytime soon.

20:17a month ago

30’

Another shot from distance.

This time by Alex Telles, but the ball ended up in the stands yet again.

20:15a month ago

29’

Mark Noble’s job tonight looks to be „kick the s**t out of Jesse Lingard”.

And so far he’s succeeding.

20:13a month ago

27’

An absolute thunder from Lingard, but Areola was a match for it.
20:11a month ago

25’

Donny van de Beek tried his luck from distance, but his shot was very inaccurate.

Recap

Aside of the goal, Manchester United could’ve quickly equalised but heroics from Alphonse Areola and Issa Diop were why the scoreline remains the same.
20:04a month ago

GOAL: Manchester United 0-1 West Ham

Fantastic play from Ryan Fredericks, who is now going off having injured his ankle during the play, as he went past two players and fed in Manuel Lanzini who slot the ball into the bottom corner.

0-1, and now hopefully no more site issues.

Kick-off

And we’re underway!

Closing on kick-off

We’re just under two minutes until the first whistle of the game.

I’m in a pub drinking beer, so my mood better be good after the next 110 minutes.

Talking team news

Well, it’s pretty much what I expected to be.

Only a few slight changes to what I predicted in each of the sides.

Andriy Yarmolenko leads the line for West Ham as Michail Antonio rested for the Premier League trip to Leeds on the weekend.

For Man United it is a very much rotated side with multiple players, including Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek earning their first starts of the season.

We’re in for a good game I feel, as many players have their own points to prove.

Player to watch

After an incredibly successful six-month loan at West Ham, it looked guaranteed that Jesse Lingard will stay at the London Stadium on a permanent deal.

But as it always is in life, the attacking midfielder decided to stay in Manchester (mainly due to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo).

And just a few days ago he blew a dagger into West Ham fans' backs when his 89th-minute effort was what decided the outcome of the game, as Man Utd beat the Hammers 1-2.

And with that, he'll be pretty much guaranteed to start tonight, with OGS looking to involve the 29-year-old more than he's been so far.

13:53a month ago

Previous encounters

The head-to-head record looks incredibly awful for the Hammers as they lost nine out of the last 15 encounters against the Red Devils.

The last time West Ham managed to beat their opponents was exactly two years ago, on the 22nd of September 2019, thanks to goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell.

13:49a month ago

Current form

In this case, it doesn't matter.

After their previous matchup on the weekend, West Ham will be looking for revenge as David De Gea's save denied Mark Noble's 95th penalty, which would've drawn the Hammers level.

And that's what is going to define the outcome of this game.

The hosts will want to prove that the latest result wasn't a fluke, the visitors will want to show that they deserved much, much more.

Who will end up progressing to the next round? We'll have to wait and see.
