Full-time: Watford 1-3 Manchester City

The full-time whistle goes at Vicarage Road, with Manchester City taking all three points back to the Etihad Stadium.

Goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva (2) put Manchester City in the driving seat before Watford pulled one back through Kuko Hernandez.

It was pretty plain sailing throughout for the Citizens, who move to the top spot in the Premier League after Chelsea's defeat to West Ham earlier today.

Watford remain 17th, three points adrift of the drop zone as they enter a favourable run of fixtures over the festive period.

Gabriel Jesus is down and in some discomfort having been hacked down by Cathcart as Man City looked to break.

A cynical challenge by the Watford centre back.

Josh King almost makes it two! The Watford strikers first time effort flies inches wide of the post with Ederson scrambling. The home fan have been boosted by that goal!

Watford have one back! Kuko Hernandez sees his initial effort his the post but he's the quickest to react, turning home the rebound from close range. It couldn't happen, could it?

66' - Double Substitution

Two changes for the visitors, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish make way for Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne.
18:52a month ago

Bernardo Silva is a wizard! Danny Rose gives the Portuguese midfielder far too much room on the right hand side and takes it graciously, cutting inside and curling a beauty into the top corner. He's in the form of his life.
18:48a month ago

58' - Woodwork!

Phil Foden lets rip from the left hand side, Bachmann turning the ball onto the post and behind for a corner.

Laporte finds himself free in the box from the resulting set piece, but can't direct his volleyed effort on target.

It's been a quiet start to the second 45, with Watford probing in their quest for a way back into the game.

Nothing going so far though.

45' - Second Half Underway

The second-half has begun at Vicarage Road, with two changes for the home side.

Tom Cleverly and Imran Louza make way for Cucho Hernandez and Juraj Kucka

Half-time: Watford 0-2 Manchester City

Half-time at Vicarage Road as Manchester City enter the sheds two goals to the good.

It's been almost training ground football at times, superb from the Citizens, who lead the Premier League as things stand.

It's all to do for the Hornets in the second-half, few would back them finding a way back into the game though.

No chance on the scoreboard here but it continues to be one way traffic at Vicarage Road.

Manchester City are on a different planet this evening, simply superb.

18:04a month ago

A huge chance falls the way of Phil Foden, who spins from close range and blazes wide.

It could be a cricket score this.

18:01a month ago

Bernardo Silva doubles City's lead! It's a slick counter attack from the visitors, with Ilkay Gundogan denied by Bachmann before Bernardo Silva follows in to fire home from an accute angle. Danny Rose recieves a yellow card for a late challenge on Grealish in the build up.

Chance after chance after chance for Jack Grealish.

Another one goes begging as he fires over from close range.

Raheem Sterling's 4th minute opener is his 11th in all competitions against Watford. Rout.
17:41a month ago

The chances just keep coming, and this might be the best of the lot!

Jack Grealish again finds himself in space in the Watford area, but he is once again denied by Bachmann, who is keeping the visitors in the game!

17:40a month ago

Chances galore for Manchester City, with Raheem Sterling denied a second by a smart stop from Bachmann before Jack Grealish fired a close range effort straight at the Austrian.

Vicarage Road rises to its feet to pay tribute to young Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, who tragically lost his life earlier this week.

You are loved, Arthur.

Raheem Sterling gives Manchester City the lead! It's all to easy for the visitors as Phil Foden floats a ball to the back post, with Sterling on hand to fire home from close range. Poor defending by the hosts who now have it all to do!

Man City: Starting 11

For Man City, the game tonight proves just too early for De Bruyne as he only makes the bench.

XI | Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodrigo, Gundogan (C), Bernardo, Sterling, Foden, Grealish

SUBS | Steffen, Carson, Stones, Ake, Jesus, Zinchenko, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Mahrez

Watford: starting 11

It's pretty much as you were for Watford as Claudio Ranieri makes one change for this evening's match from the defeat to Chelsea.

Danny Rose comes into the team for the injured Adam Masina.

That means the in-form pairing of Emmanuel Dennis and Joshua King continue to lead the line for the Hornets.

Manchester City: Team News

Manchester City have a near full strength squad to pick from ahead of tonight's clash.

Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden have returned to training after short-term layoffs, whilst Jack Grealish could be set for a return to the starting XI after making his return from injury with a second-half cameo at Villa Park on Wednesday.

Ferran Torres remains on the sideline with a foot injury.

Watford: Team News

Watford will be without long-term absentees Ismailia Sarr, Kwadwo Baah, Ben Foster, Nicolas N'Koulou and Peter Etebo.

Adam Masina is also set to miss this evenings match, after lasting just 12 minutes against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Citizens look to maintain pressure on the top spot

Manchester City have found their form in recent weeks, winning their last six in all competitions.

They will be hoping to continue that fine form this evening, and will be buoyed by the return of Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden.

Watford looking for a Manchester double

Watford were unfortunate to leave Vicarage Road empty handed on Wednesday evening, as Chelsea snuck past their fellow Londoners.

But the Hornets are no stranger to a home upset, having thrashed Manchester United by four goals to one a fortnight ago.

Can they make it a Manchester one-two this evening?
