Ralph Hasenhuttl's Southampton took on Manchester United and were impressive in their 1-1 draw after coming back from a goal behind.

The Austrian's side continued a great week after pulling off an upset at Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night with a fine 3-2 away win.

Today it was Che Adams who dealt United the dagger blow but Armando Broja was particularly impressive as his strength was often too much to handle.

Hasenhuttl praises forwards after dominant week

Adams' strike was a thing of beauty as he perfectly picked out the far corner with a finessed effort. But his boss has hailed the work ethic of his forwards: “Yeah, because this [tracking back] is what you have to do in our team.

“This is the reason why you sometimes lacking a little bit of freshness in front of the goal.

“But he has learned to work hard for the team and to score goals now. This is what you have to do particularly in modern football, otherwise it’s not working.

“For us as a club, it takes a little bit of time when you have to learn this but I think he has shown he can do this and the average of scoring is fantastic," he added.

Adams and Broja in recent weeks have combined well up top for Saints and after a tough start to the season, they seem to have it working the way their boss wants it to.

“I must say, up front they work for each other and I have a feeling it gets better and better connected, which is good to see.”

Saints boss points out United's flaw

"It is not a big secret that when they lose the ball that the reverse gears are not the best from everybody," Hasenhuttl said.

This is becoming a pattern as opposing managers highlight United's inability to track back and work as a team.

It is also working for the opposition as more and more teams are beginning to take the game to Ralf Rangnick's side and claw their way back into the game despite United taking a lead.
