Ruben Neves has called Wolves' 2-1 win over Leicester City "a massive three points".

The Portugeuse midfielder opened the scoring at Molineux for the Midlands with an effort from outside the area that had too much power for Kasper Schmeichel.

After Ademola Lookman equalised for Leicester, Daniel Podence won the game for Bruno Lage's side and earned them their sixth win in eight league games.

Following the game, Neves laid out his assessment of the victory, he said: "It was a really hard game for us.

"Leicester played well and we were a bit short to press them because they have a lot of quality - we knew that before the game. I think our mentality brought us the three points.

“When you need to win like this, even if you don’t play like you used to play, it’s really good. It was a fantastic win for us, a massive three points and we just want to keep it going.

"We needed to defend more than normal. Leicester went to our box a lot of times. Our strength was key to today’s win.”

Alongside the victory on the field, there was a bonus victory for Wolves as Pedro Neto returned to action after suffering a knee injury last April.

The winger was greeted with a standing ovation from the Molineux faithful and Neves has plauded his international teammate.

"It's superb to have him back, to compete with us, he's a fantastic player and a fantastic guy, and I wish him all the best, and I hope he can help us a lot this season," Neves said.

"It's really important to have everyone fit for the games. Some important players for us are coming back, and I'm sure they will help us a lot for the final third of the season."
