Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard met the media as the Villians prepare to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The head coach provided a team news update, reflected on the current league table, the club’s form and the test his club will face against the Foxes.

Here are the most important talking points from the gaffer';s press conference.

On facing Leicester

The Foxes sit ninth in the Premier League table and Gerrard is aware of the threat the East Midlands outfit poses.

"They're a good team. We're playing against a team full of talented players who can be really dangerous when they're playing well.

"But also a team who, like ourselves, have been a little bit inconsistent of late. It's a good game, it will be a fascinating game and one we're looking forward to."

On the reverse fixture

Last December, Aston Villa defeated Leicester 2-1 as an Ezri Konsa brace canceled out Harvey Barnes' opener.

"It was very pleasing to win the game. Leicester came to Villa Park full of talented players.

"To go a goal down, the characters that the players showed, the buzz and the high after the game was very much about the three points and how we went about it."

On team news

Gerrard provided a fitness update on key players ahead of the visit to the King Power Stadium.

"Bertrand Traore came out of training with a groin complaint, so he'll be out for the game. We'll probably do an MRI scan on that, but the doctor has ruled Bertrand out.

"Kortney Hause and Morgan Sanson are not available. Lucas Digne had surgery on his collarbone and can't be around contact for quite some time."

On the team's current form

The Villains have dropped four in a row, suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Tottenham last time out to slip to 15th in the table.

"We've spoken about it before, we've made mistakes within games, we've had moments that have gone against us and we've been punished heavily for that.

"There are opportunities for us to grab points and i'm sure the mood, the table and how everyone's feeling will be completely different."
